If he is the number 6 kicker in the country, then that is a good decision.
I'd take a kicker who is very good over a 3 star DT who didn't play a down of high school football this year or a future felon at S/LB.
Other than Crutchfield, LSU hasn't wasted any kicking scholarships at all, and the performance out of these guys over the past decade has been damn near flawless other than Dalfrey in 2008.
Botts was a punter, so he wasn't really necessary with Wing getting past the Clearinghouse (that whole issue was ridiculous from the start).

Yeah, there's no doubt he's a great kicker, and we've evaluated kickers very well.
Only thing that puzzles me is the tight scholarship situation.

I can only hope it means that we cut the one guy in our class who doesn't fit with the rest of the recruits. And the other guy doesn't sniff an offer.
