FWIW - My folks' power came back on in Quail Ridge around 6:30pm - MUCH faster than I expected.

In slidell?

Used to kill some deer back there in the mid to late 90s.

Yeah. That was more than annoying.

No problem. This was taken a couple hours after that video... The water was still rising. That pelican eventually settled in on top the mailbox.

FWIW - The Pearl River is going to be a mess the next couple days. It's starting to rise again. The highest it was ever recorded was in 1983 when it reached 21' - and it's supposed to get up to 20' in the next 48 hours. I know a lot has been done to improve drainage since then, but if y'all flooded in '83... be ready just in case.

I don't know if this is a trend for all the local rivers but the bogue falaya went way down today places that were under a foot or 2 or water right near the river are now under no water just some left over standing water.

My folks say there's still a little water on the the street where they are - but they can get in and out ok for now. They're expecting it to rise again big time here soon, though. That's from the West Pearl River, though...

Had to go to Folsom to find ice... Main street market I think... Not a whole lot left to sell... On the way back I finally see some crews clearing trees on river road but didn't recognize the name or logo on truck so not sure if they there to repair lines

Still happening, westbound was backing up too. No accident, just people fricking around.

so I guess taking I12 would be the best

the rivers probably differ with their crests but the bogue falaya went way down today. did the dam hold over in Mississippi?

I'm assuming that was an answer to somebody else.

Yes. From what I've heard it did. As for current river levels vs. what they're expecting - Here's some perspective on where my folks are compared to the W.Pearl River at top right...

(image removed by me)

They're only about 1/4 mile away and built on a 200 year flood plain... but the street isn't. They're expecting it back to about the level in the picture I posted within 48 hours. I'm not sure how the Bogue Falaya fared in 1983 or if it's relevant to what's happening with the Pearl River system.
