The center is less than 50 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi.

Look LSU316, this TigerBait guy is a straight up fricking troll. It's best to just ignore him. He trolls the SECR and he's trolling this thread. He's probably 13.

Yeah. At least by me Gustav didn't last nearly as long
as this is supposed to. Not saying its going to be the same but this should sit over us for a while, correct? Couldn't not possibly cause different issues?

So I'm guessing LSU has a field cover on already? Will that thing that blow away? How hard is it strapped down?

KMIS station reported a 78.1 kt gust. That is 89 mph. Station is 85m above sea level, approximately 120 miles SE of New Orleans. It is an Apache rig.

Hurricane HD is telling me I'm wrong. Guess Lafayette got the eye. Must have been a storm in the mid-late 90s I'm thinking of.

That's not ground level like you said but I'm guessing Isaac has stronger winds than what's being reported. The pressure is too low. Isaac will pack a punch for a minimum hurricane.

Does anyone know whether hotel rooms around Houston are hard to come by right now?

The last eye to go directly over BR was probably Betsy in 1965 .. Edith was really close in 1971 ..

This Hurricane HD app is cool as shite !!

this is going to bring more flooding but less damage by way of wind . I suspect power will be restored quicker then it was in gustav

Did Ivan's eye go over BR or something? I remember the eye of a recent storm over BR. I'm 24 so in my lifetime (not counting Andrew, I barely remember that)

Entergy said earliest power back on is next tuesday in the other thread? One LONG week

if entergy says power should be up and running by friday people raise hell and bombard them with calls when its not restored by then. If entergy tells you tuesday and its mostly up by friday its because they're so awesome
