audrey is drilled into our collective heads here in SWLA, and LC isn't Cameron. same rules apply out here with Cameron
and we don't have levees that flood, just flat marshland that gets raped by surge something fierce

Honestly, nothing indicated that New Orleans couldn't handle the storm. I'm not saying that it wasn't looking to be a serious storm, but most the models had a cat 2 at best and let's be honest, if people didn't think they could handle a cat 2 they wouldn't be here to begin with. Now all the people below NOLA, really anywhere that is prone to flooding and surges was a bit insane.

General Honore says 40 families stayed in Plaq and now people have to rescue them.
I wish people would think of more than themselves when they stay, or just really STAY and deal with it.

i'd still rather ride it out with power somewhere else
i don't think anything catastrophic will happen to nola, but it's going to suck arse there for at least 5-7 days
but lower nola/plaquemines is a WHOLE nother ballgame

Might as well stay in Holly Beach during a storm.
Idiots. I would love to hear their reasonings behind staying.

GFS right now has it going more west and eventually the eye going right over laffy, and and not turning completely north until it gets to NW LA, which would be the best case scenerio for BR at this point.

otto what happened to your collective conscious where we're all our brother's keeper and are morally bound to help those in need/distress?

Because people are morons. There were "official staying behind threads" and "official frick a generator threads" because I'm not a pussy. Just idiotic behavior.
Like someone said. Mostly college kids with nothing to lose and nothing invested in homes and families.

Is Braithwaite built down a hill? The road is the height of a second story?
Posted on 8/29/12 at 8:21 am to Prominentwon
If they stay behind they should have to pay for all costs for rescuing them.

What's the word on the levee south of New Orleans? Is it bad or is it the media hyping things up again?
Haven't heard this. Is this true?

Meh. I left for Gustav and got hammered with the damn storm up near Baton Rouge.
The place I would have evacuated to near gonzales has been without power since 6 yesterday. Amazingly, I still have power.

it's one thing to stay if your by yourself (still stupid) but to stay with a family should be criminal

Anyone else notice in the OP the disturbance in the Atlantic that has been upgraded to 50% chance of becoming a storm?
If it continues on it's path now, it is on about the same track as Isaac

Posted on 8/29/12 at 8:23 am to SlowFlowPro
"They're getting hammered."
Gets me every time.

Going to be Leslie. Models having it a fish storm while I've seen people on forums claim it could take the same path as Isaac.
Earliest named 12th storm in history. Not sure how accurate that is considering Rita was at the end of September.
