Gustav did exactly that and my house was toast.

Ever had a tree(s) fall on your house during a hurricane?

People may think I'm crazy for leaving BR. I'm not interested in watching an 80 foot oak tree fall through my living room with the wife and kids (one being an infant) in the house with me.

Because why should I be all sad and worried about it, unless it gets up to a 3 I'm straight.

Why aren't there any evacuation orders for NOLA right now ? A hurricane is about to smack it head on and no evacs ?

You're the smartest person in this thread. Good man, taking care of your family first and foremost.

That's what I'm saying. As far inland as BR is if this storm doesn't produce those (some do some don't , Rita and Gustav did) BR's biggest concern will be localized flooding.

Nope, but if you do make sure you get your shite and your family in order so they'll be alright. And let me kick back and laugh at what's going on.

It's too late for evacs. There would be gridlock on the roads when the weather starts to get bad.

yeah, the OT is full of guys who stick it out no matter what. I confess I did stick out Ike a few years ago before we had kids. like a freight train running through my house at 2am. Never again will I risk that especially with kids.

better safe than sorry. Always prudent to have a plan just in case.

Hope this is the case. I'm 30 miles north and really hope the winds don't get bad. In these hills flooding is no issue

Those people who make light of this obviously have no lives and any real responsibilities. Back when I was a teen, yeah, it was great!

Nowadays, I have a family and a house I'm responsible for. TS or Hurricane, these things are not humorous at all. This thing will frick up a lot of people's lives over the next 72 hours.
