I use 10 squirts in a miracle gro hose end sprayer. There is another product called Hydretain. It might work better than baby shampoo but it's $70 vs $6.
I like $6 as well. How much lawn do you have? That way I can adjust for mine. Thanks!

I applied some 15-5-10 SR to my lawn a few days ago. 9000 sq ft of Palisades Zoysia in Weatherford Tx. Am I going to regret that? I'm cutting it at 4" right now which is higher than what I'm seeing suggested. Is there any danger in leaving it taller?

I'm also watering daily. I sodded the grass in April. Was thinking I wanted to get roots established this year, then start the deep rooting next year. I'm watering 30 minutes a zone per day. I have hot spots in my yard and I really don't want to lose the grass. Got soil tested, and everything is virtually 0 except calcium which is through the roof. PH is in decent shape I think. 7.8. I figured with this heat, my grass needed some nutrients so I applied some SR fert. Just trying to figure out if I'm doing anything wrong. This is my first attempt at having a nice lawn.

I have to fill it up more than once. It won't damage the lawn so there is no worry about overdoing it. Every few minutes I hold the sprayer close to the ground for a couple seconds and if it foaming up I'll add more. My lawn is roughly 7,000 square feet.

It is similar to bermuda in that it will grow up unless it is cut shorter and more regularly. Then it grows out. I cut the fert and am mowing my bermuda at about 2 inches in hopes of reducing watering needs. Ferting and mowing pushes growth and that growth takes more water.

I highly doubt anything bad will happen because you put down fert.

I just watched a video where someone applies it with a backpack sprayer. That will make it more convenient for sure. Thanks for all your knowledge!

I could see the rain and lightning in the distance. Sat on my back patio drinking a beer while my sprinklers ran.

Before I got Hydretain, I did the baby shampoo method with a backpack sprayer and busted the hose. Was my fault for over pumping, but just be mindful of my mistake. Was only a $3 part replacement, but still pissed me off at the time

I started new watering schedule and program this morning. Hoping to see green up by next weeks scorching dry heat. Upped to 25 min on rotors and 15 minutes on pop ups every other day.

If I dont water daily, mine goes brown and crispy. Do you just let it go brown?

yes. that's the good thing about zoysia. Much more drought tolerant. It can turn brown but back to green after a good rain......which I hope and pray happens soon.

Sodium cocoyl isethionate. It’s a wetting agent.

At this point I’m going buy a pump and use the pond water. Something I have been wanting to do. I’ll just buy a nice 2hp pump and do a quick rig so I can get some good water going. I feel like too many more days of city water is going to kill my grass.
