I 2nd Pinch A Penny. If you are in the BTR area, the two stores here are owned by a very nice and helpful couple.

I do utilize their chlorine bleach for my chlorine liner pool. I also utilize their free water testing service from time to time.

also you want to keep vitamin c which is ascorbic acid this removes the stains.

Despite patting yourself on the back for this, it would've been helpful to mention it has an extremely low pH. Like 1-2.5 maybe.

bacon soda which is a type of caustic raises the ph

Baking soda isn’t very efficient for raising pH. It’s used to raise alkalinity without raising pH much.

when my pH is out of whack i always check alkalinity and its always too low. once i get the alkalinity in check with 'bacon' soda, the pH seems to take care of itself.

If your alkalinity is too low, you will have swings in pH. Adding baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) will increase your alakalinity and stabilize the pH, but it isn’t going to substantially increase your pH. Sodium carbonate on the other hand is used to increase pH.

With a SWG it is rare to have too low of pH. Usually pH is high and alkalinity is low so you have to add muriatic acid to drop it, then use baking soda to increase alkalinity without raising the pH back up.

Yes you are correct! When adding VITAMIN C to your pool it will absorb all the CL2. And drop the PH, but you only have to do this once or twice a year in the spring. This is only for stain removal!

Yes basically. I have had my pool for years and I never go to a pool store for chemicals. Every once in awhile just for shits a giggles. I bring my water in, to get checked. but the kids that do the test are very sloppy when they test. And I doubt they know anything about colorimetry testing. It's just funny to me. Two people can do the same exact test and come up with totally different results. Try it. bring your water to two different pool stores and check both results. you will laugh.
