What should I be doing for my grass for Fall/Winter?

I live in the Baton Rouge area. What do I need to be doing for my grass for weeds and fertilizer?

Other guys on the board will know better than me, but I usually put on a winter fertilizer. I think they are just nitrogen and potassium. No phosphorus. Once it goes brown, I give it one last mow that’s a a bit lower than usual, just to clean it up, and bag it so as not to have a bunch of moldy material in the thatch overwinter. This is Bermuda.

What type of grass?
Nearing time for fall pre-emergent herbicide. mid-Sept/late Sept, before soil temperature drops below 70 F. If you choose, fall winterizer fertilizer as described by Celery - high potassium, with low or no nitrogen. For weeds that are presently in the lawn, continue to spray and kill them as needed. Good time to get a soil test if you’ve never done so for baseline info.

I’m planning on overseeding and fertilizing next pretty day. That’s what I read in the ag pamphlet. I just whacked the nuts edge out my lawn and want it to green up a bit.

That stuff is like $1400/gal. I’m sure that would last me a decade but I went with granular.

What's the name/brand of the granular you use.

Nothing. Go hunting, this is our time away from yard work.

I use a high potash fert. 0-0-62, pre em, and spot treat weeds with trimec. That's about all you need.
