Farmhouse Sink

What does that mean? Because I have hated the 2 partition sink my entire life and want 1 bigger space to work. The days of one side to wash and one to rinse are long gone. I'm never filling a side up with water. The functionality with racks and such you can put in and out of the nicer ones is great. If you mean the front apron style, I don't care about that.

If you have a 2 story house, laundry chutes are a must

I would love to get that laundry vacuum system. It’s like central vacuum for your dirty clothes. 3 kids upstairs is like a dirty laundry factory.

I finally got rid of my partition sink about a year ago. Will never go back to anything but single bowl. Love the extra room to wash big pots.

Someone pointed out they like double sinks so they can fill one side with water to thaw frozen stuff. I've got a million stainless bowls I can put on the sink to accomplish the same thing. When done, the bowl can be removed unlike a partition.

Exactly. Thawing is easily and better done otherwise, and I only think about the configuration of my sink when I'm washing bigger things, which is 4x+ a week. We're going to switch ours for a bigger, single compartment this year.

Overly open floor plans i.e. living/kitchen/dining all one space

I know that open plans can make small rooms seem bigger. Unless the occupant is extremely tidy, you can't escape the constant kitchen or dining mess.

It's great for folks with young kids though. If you're home alone and are making dinner or whatever, you can keep an eye on the kids. Now that our kids are a little older, there's less privacy, but I still don't hate it.

We put our sink in the island, but it's directly across from the range. I can basically turn around and be in front of either. Double oven is about 8 feet or so to the left of the range. We also have the sink lined up with the tv in the living room, so I can watch if I'm doing dishes.

We put our laundry room upstairs. Great idea in concept, except I fold most of the clothes, so I end up walking the basket downstairs and using the island as my "table". If we had a tv in our bedroom, I'd probably fold them there, but we decided no tv in there years ago.
