Washing machine flooded kitchen, replace floors?
Looks like the pressure switch on the washer malfunctioned. Walked in the kitchen with an inch of water covering the kitchen floor. The machine is easily fixed, but I'm concerned with the floors.

The floors are that cheap glued vinyl tile. Should I contact my home insurance and see if it's something that would be covered if they need to be replaced?

That's a lot of water. If you're going to use your deductible anyway, might as well get new floors as a result and get what you want, not what the previous tenant had.

File a homeowners claim, you need a mitigation company

You need to make sure it’s dry OP. Get some fans and dehumidifiers going now. Likely not a huge deal, but you absolutely don’t want to risk this.

I think it would be easily over your deductible, I’d contact your insurance for sure unless you want to do it on your own cash.

What type of material is the kitchen cabinets? They will more than likely be wet. The baseboards and possibly the drywall is wet also

My in-laws dishwasher flooded their kitchen and Farm Bureau covered it. They got new floors and bottom cabinets

Same thing happened to my house in December and ruined a bunch of mid-grade laminate. Went through insurance and I feel what they gave us was pretty fair. Picking out new floors is a whole other thing. More choices than ever.

The main thing is to watch your renewal for a claim surcharge since it's not a cat claim.

You should inform the house owner soon. He will solve the problem.
