IMO, cutting at 3.5 - 4 solves 99% of issues.

After years of the same, I am convinced the St Aug is over rated. Too many issues.

Well if you had problem with broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds and sedges, and didn’t have either Celsius or Sedgehammer, as the case of the OP, then I’d say yes it’s worth it. But I have nearly a full bottle of Sedgehammer already, but I’m running low on Celsius (year 5 on original bottle) so I’ll buy just Celsius, not the Xtra, when I run out.

Thanks. I have one main weed problem (other than burweed) but can't figure out what it is. I've brought it here before but wasn't able to get an answer. I'll try again though.

Circling back to this. Craw, I have the Celsius Xtra being delivered tomorrow. Plan on applying it this weekend. Just mix in sprayer as directions call for and apply evenly throughout my yard I assume? My biggest question is, how long do I need to wait to fertilize with 25 or 24 Nitrogen after applying the celsius?

Not sure any grass can survive 2 GSPs and the tracks they create.

I went to a friend's house and got a bunch of plugs from his Celebration Bermuda lawn this spring. I put it in compacted areas that the dogs had worn to bare dirt. It's spreading like crazy now. If you have enough sun it might work.

Definitely follow the directions on the label. Here is the important thing - it’s going to say spray “x” of grams or ounces per 1000 sq ft of lawn. You can mix the herbicide in any amount of water, but spray that entire amount of solution over 1000 sq ft. The sprayer I use, with my walking gait, usually 2 gallons covers 1000 sq ft. For some it may be a 1 gallon, 1.5, 2, 2.5, … Think of the water only as a carrier to apply the labeled amount of herbicide over 1000 sq ft, don’t think of it as a dilutant. Also be sure to add the surfactant (spreader/sticker) to the herbicide solution.

As far fertilization is concerned you can apply that anytime it is convenient for you. I like to do it before a rain to let the precipitation water it in, but if there no rain forecast apply it 1 or 2 days after the herbicide application and water it in.

Appreciate it. I have a 4 gallon backpack sprayer, so I can see it getting tricky with the multiple areas and dimensions of yard I have. I live on a corner so I have a lot of grass between the sidewalk and street on the front and sides of my house.

I just did Celsius and followed it up with fertilizer.

Reading up, I let the grass and weeds grow a little before spraying the Celsius. Read that you don’t want the weeds cut short when you spray. So sprayed about 5-6 days after mowing.

Then waited about 4 days after spraying Celsius to mow again. Mowed then put down fertilizer next morning.

I was finally able to spray my yard with Celsius Xtra yesterday evening after work. I previously measured everything for square footage, but I highly underestimated how hard it would be to make sure I was applying the right amount over the right area. I hope I didn't nuke it. I had to go over the same areas multiple times to empty the backpack sprayer, and I'm sure I over did it in some areas and under did it in others. Guess we will find out in a few weeks just how bad I messed up. Another thing I'm not sure of, is what this stuff will do to my trees and/or shrubs if it got on it in the process. I have 7 oak trees in the front and side of my house that I had to go over exposed roots while spraying the grass. I also couldve gotten it on a few shrubs while following the contours of the yard around my garden.

If you are ever unsure, you can always load in plain water in sprayer and do a practice pass to see how things would play out. Write it down in a note pad for your next application.

Also, I watch the Lawncarenut on YouTube, he has some good tips for when you are first getting into this…

you might try adding the blue dye to the mixture next time...at least then you'll know what areas you've hit already and you can roughly gauge the amount of coloration to see how much went down where

Yeah, I knew what areas I hit but the ends of the fan (spray fan that it naturally makes) are thicker than the middle section if that makes sense. I felt like the edges of each pass were doubled up compared to the mid section. Also, keeping a consistant distance from the ground is major and really affects the amount you are applying. Those things, along with the speed. When I would cover the whole area, at least twice and still had some left, I didn't know what to do with the remainder, so I just started hitting big areas with the sprayer held higher off the ground to spread it further.

MS - I was in the same boat as you with the weeds, except I have centipede grass. A co-worker turned me onto Celsius and it's the real deal. I wouldn't worry about it getting on the tree roots, and I suspect the shrubs will be fine.
One question - have you checked your soil pH? When you lock in the correct pH, your grass should take off. Some Feed Stores sell soil test kits, but I ended up sending mine off for testing to the Ag Center. Just wondering....

I’d love to make a video on how to spray out of a backpack. You don’t criss cross or concern yourself with emptying the backpack. You use 1 gallon per thousand square feet with a fan tip teejet tip. Walk 3.2 mph holding the nozzle 18 inches off the ground. 2 pumps every 10 steps. The current path overlaps to dead center of the previous path.

No kidding. My Centipede all but died off. The whole neighborhood is having trouble. Let me rephrase that. The whole county is having Centipede issues! Here it is almost July and everyone is still having trouble getting their yards back right. I had a bunch of hybrid Bermuda that was thriving where Centipede once was. I like this Bermuda better than Centipede. It grows shorter so I don’t have to cut it as often, and it’s a darker green than Centipede. My neighbor and I both are on Team Bermuda now and not looking back. I had Bermuda when I lived in Little Rock and long as you kill the weeds and fertilize you get a nice golf course looking yard.
