Tree pruner spring fell off because the bolt it was attached to snapped, leaving a very small piece of the remaining threaded bolt inside of the pruner. I can get another bolt and nut to make it work again, but I'm having issues getting the rest of the bolt out. I'll try to snap a pic later, but any suggestions on how to get the rest of it out?

Heat. Maybe cut a screwdriver slot in it. Do you have someone who can weld a nut to it?

If you don’t have a screw extractor try drilling it out completely. Have had to do that on several occasions.

have a tap handy in case you mess up threads.

If the bolt is sticking out a bit I use a metal bit on an oscillating tool and cut a slot so you can unscrew with flathead.

Bottom pic is where I can get a 1/8" holy started but I probably need a better but. There's no chance I can get any type of threads to catch

You’ll probably have to drill until thin, then pick and tap the rest out.
Drill and easy-out might be ok for something like this too but I’ve never had too much luck there and usually skip that step or hammer in a standard torx bit if the bolt is soft.
Ideally, if you can clamp it all down good, you would take a center punch and work the bolt with progressively-angled strikes.
Center punch is my #1 go-to and I’ve probably retrieved a few hundred damaged screws or bolts on cars and oil tools.

you could try drilling with a left handed drill as well and it might start turning out.

If you have a fine point punch, you may be able to unthread it by tapping the highest point on the broken bolt. You can try heating the surround area with a small propane torch if the plastic is out of the way. Otherwise, give the broken piece a squirt of penetrating oil then try the punch.

I would have already gone and gotten a replacement pruner

Try to drill it out first, hammer and punch if unable to drill.

You’re going to have to drill that out and re-tap the threads. Unfortunately a drill bit and tap in that size will probably cost more than the pruner itself..

this but the satisfaction of not letting that pruner beat you is pretty good.

Drill a small hole, use an EZ Out. One of my friends on this board had his Radio Antenna broke off. Part of it was in the base. I drilled a small hole. Put the EZ-Out on my drill, it came right out.
