Things you wish you thought of before extending a patio cover!

I am looking to add a patio cover extension. The new addition will tie into my existing roof structure. Will be doing a hip and ridge roofline to match my current architecture of the house. Dimensions 23 by 19. But wanted to ask yalls opinion of things you wish you would have thought of before an addition like this. Just want to make sure 6 months from now I am not regretting something I could have addressed before the work gets done.

Higher voltage outlets up top for heavy duty infrared heaters. standard outlets can't get heaters that put out enough heat.
Wish I had spray foamed before I put the ceiling up.

I wish I would have added about 10 more feet out.

Coworker has these on the lower level/underside of his patio one for each sofa in front of a TV. They flip on with a switch and are warm in seconds. it is phenomenal in the winter

Not to highjack but I have a question. I have a white flat metal roofing and it gets crazy hot and keeps moisture. Any ideas on how to reduce both.

I like the idea of higher voltage outlets. Wouldn’t have thought about that. Thanks.
Keep them coming

The only problem I have is the sun being blocked on one side and the grass dying off in that area. Trying to fix it now. Make sure you keep it healthy if you're shading a part.of it.

However big you think you need... go bigger if you can.
Well maybe not in your case, that sounds like pretty nice size. My addition was 18x16 I believe. I’m pleased with it, but a little bigger would be even better.
I just have fan and LED lights underneath. And flood lights at the corners.

Also wish my overhang extended farther than my deck. Less rain would get on the deck.

Drainage. It’s very easy to overlook problems you might cause with your lawn and landscaping.

seems to be a common theme that people wish they had wired in external sound system and speakers plus adding extra outlets everywhere you can
