I have a perfect spot for one, but curious what they’re like in the fall (cleanup) and how Hardy they are.

I would rather have no tree, than a willow.

The person who plants it dies when the limbs finally touch the ground

That sounds like a perfect spot!

Cypress would like it there too.

I planted one next to my pond last year. After having bamboo and wisteria I don't think it could get any worse.

I’ve planted them on a waters edge, with a slight tilt towards the water. The one I planted you could fish on the West side in the morning. When the sun was going down, you could fish the other side. Always in the shade.

Also if you’ve ever seen willow wood cut, it’s really beautiful wood grain.

I planned to plant on where my septic discharges. I’m guessing that would be a bad idea?

well it will go straight for the discharge pipe and get all up inside it and quickly choke it off, its what they do and a reason why people hate them

that area will help it grow fast and do well if you can keep it out of the discharge pipes

Hope you didn’t plant it next to your pond dam, it will leak with a willow.

This.

I am a fan of pawpaw trees if you can fit one in somewhere (not a shade tree). It's also a host tree for the zebra swallowtail which is one of my favorite butterflies.
