Cat brought fleas. Cat now treated twice, at least once with Frontline Plus, hadn't been in house for almost 2 weeks. Some kind of flea powder applied by SIL in house. Still fleas. We (wife and i) sprayed (MIL house) with Ortho Max Home Defense twice. Bedding/ towels washed. Still fleas. Professional came yesterday, ? which pesticide, no fleas last nite, many fleas today. Suggestions?

You need to also treat the yard.

Yard was treated by pro but even so, not sure why so many still viable on the inside just relatively few hrs after application and no one had been in the house.
Considered the bomb but wondering if that would be that more effective- maybe so

I would recommend that you go to DoMyOwn.com, look in their menu for "Contact Us / Ask A Pro", get their phone number and call them and tell them your situation. They are hands down the best when it comes to Pest Control. They will tell you what works the best and tell you exactly how to use it.

We had a bad case of Carpenter Ants in our house and it was driving us crazy. DoMyOwn.com was a lifesaver. I have been using their site for all of our pest control. They have great customer service and the products that work.

Spray yard with mavrik perimeter and set off a flea bomb in every room, 2 bombs in large rooms.

Also, the exterminator sprayed the adult fleas, but new ones are hatching from eggs in the carpets right now. You need to vacuum every single day for the next two weeks to trigger the eggs to hatch so they hit the pesticide. Throw out the vacuum bag/empty the canister outside immediately every time so they don't crawl back out.

That makes sense. Exterminator didn't mention that. We're going to talk to them this morning. Thanks

Agree with everything said here. But also fleas have grown “resistant” to frontline so it is not very effective anymore. Look into Revolution plus, bravecto, credit, or nexgard. Just make sure it is for cats and not dogs

Make sure you don’t have any wild animals living near/under your house. I couldn’t solve a flea problem until I found out there was a family of possums living underneath. Once they were gone, fleas were too.

I learned a lot about fleas a few years ago when our dogs brought them into our basement. The eggs will take a little while to hatch, and the new ones are cannibalistic and will get blood from the dead ones the pesticides killed. So that is another reason the vacuuming daily helps. You have to take out the living fleas, and take out any food source for the eggs as they hatch.

The foggers specifically for bed bugs is better than the normal bug bombs. Neither are effective on the eggs, but it can help kill any that are living.

Bengal flea spray is remarkably effective indoors.

If I remember correctly, they have a two week cycle. Spray/fog/bomb every two weeks for a couple of months. That’s the only way I’ve had any success with fleas. If you have carpet, make sure to vacuum after spraying.

Get the cat on brevecto, it helps with infestations.

I had a similar situation.

You're wasting your time until you have all animals that are in the house treated and are ready to treat the home every few days. Fleas can lay eggs and they will stay dormant until something (vibration) wakes them up.

You have to kill all 3 stages, adult, larvae, eggs.
