It’s just the smaller one, BG55 I think. Have to start it one way and one way only or it won’t start. I’ve had it for probably 4-5 yrs now and other than it being picky to start has worked great.
Basically, I can’t pump the bulb in the starting process. Only way it starts is 3 pulls while being choked, then one pull not choked and it starts everytime.

Well I didn’t pay attention and I think I forgot a step yesterday and of course it flooded and wouldn’t start. I’ve done it in the past, but I leave it alone for a few hours and come back and it starts. It didn’t yesterday, so I tried taking the plug out and left it out overnight. Tried pulling it with it out several times, reinstalled then plug and still a no go. I’ll bring it in to K&N if I need to, but it just seems that it may be something I can handle.

I’ll add that when I started pulling again, I’m pretty sure fuel was being spit out through muffler.

Advice?

Take the spark plug out and ground it to the engine while pull on the rope to test for spark

could be the carb is flooding and not stopping fuel flow

carbs are only $12 on ebay for it so if you have spark and the fuel filter isnt clogged up, go buy a new carb for it and it will be good as new again

I have the same one and have the same issues. It has been a bitch to start since they day I bought it. I press the primer a few times choke about half way and once it starts I let it idel for a few minutes before I use it. That’s the only way mine will run. And like you said If I miss a step might as well leave it alone an hour. If you get it figured out please respond

I’m gonna leave it alone for another day or so. If not I may slam it on the concrete. Should’ve just bought an echo like my weed eater. That thing doesn’t miss a beat.

I have the same Stihl blower. What pisses me off about it is the On/Off switch doesn't automatically default to On like most yard equipment. I can never remember if O on the switch stands for on or off

Mine is like 25 years old, has been underwater twice, and is still running fine

I start mine the same way as you with no problems, but it needs a little hotter fuel mixture than my weed eater to run right

When it doesn’t start I find myself questioning which is on or off.

I same blower. Same issues. Replaced carb. Still does it, took the whole thing apart cleaned and replaced. Still takes like 100 pulls to star.

Bought a Milwaukee blower to match my drill batteries. No more cursing on lawn day.

Do you have the M18 series? How do you like the Milwaukee? Thinking of doing the same thing. I had pulling out that corded SOB that I have now.

I had the same blower probably 6 yrs old. Mine blew some seal in the crank case and I have no compression - athough it feels like it has compression. Unfortunately I bought a $50 coil before finding out the real issue. No start but will run a little when the spark plug dipped in gas. I had fuel out the muffler as well. Yours might be a junker, too.

If you fouled out the plug, simply removing it, letting it dry then putting it back in doesn't always fix a plug problem. Often times the mixture will ruin the ceramic and make the plug permanently fouled.
Try a new plug.

Also, the carb is probably out of tune. Very easy to do. First set low speed mixture then hold throttle wide open and set high speed.

Here's a pretty decent video showing how to to the muffler mod and tune the carb.

Get this. Problem solved forever.

I have one and it's all I need. No more:

pulling a cord and being frustrated, leaking oil, gas mix, plugs fouled, ethanol crap, carb adjustment, muffler replacement. Just charge your battery after each use.

Oh, and make sure the spark arrestor screen in the muffler isn't clogged with soot.

Got spark, everything is clear. Let it sit for 2 days. Acted like it wanted to start on the second pull with the choke closed. That was it. Going to get a carb for it and change it out and that’s it.

I’m not paying someone $120 to fix something I paid $120 for. I’ll buy a brand new one first.
