Looks like my Whirlpool Cabrio Washer, (direct drive model), about 7 years old is about give up the ghost, and my plans for some time was to replace it with most basic model Speed Queen washer TR3.

I know Stantons is an authorized dealer in Baton Rouge, Gormans in Praririevilke and I plan to get pricing from them but I recall in other threads on this subject the past few years there was an authorized dealer in Louisiana not extremely far from Baton Rouge that had excellent pricing on Speed Queen units that I’d like to get a quote from and I can not remember for the life of me the name of that applicance store or the city. Can anyone help out here? Whoever I purchase the unit from, I plan to pick it up and install it myself, and I don’t need the machine yesterday as the Cabrio is still working, so I can wait if the machine needs to be ordered .

TIA

I bought a Maytag commercial yesterday. My old GE washer crapped out (motherboard) after only 6 years. It was between that one and the speed queen. I liked a few things from the Maytag just a little better (warranty and agitator mostly).

I’d at least do a comparison between the two before you decide on the speed queen.

I’ll check it out - you have a model number of the Maytag commercial?

2nd the Maytag commercial. Speed queen changed their design a couple years ago when mine went out and they were only ones I could find that still had true agitator.

I know SQ had the model change the one year, 2017 or 2018 (?), which was a fail, but then they reverted back the following year to the earlier design. That said, based on your comments, I’m seriously looking at this commercial Maytag now, I know it’s Whirlpool owned product, and I’ve had good luck with Whirlpool appliances over many years, but I didn’t expect my Cabrio to last past 6 or 7 years which is the case. I

All I’m looking for in a replacement washer simple and effective, with deep water wash, and longevity (commercial line) - this Maytag looks like it fits the bill, as would a Speed Queen. Pricing seems to be comparable.

Did you guys buy from Lowe’s or an appliance store?

Got mine from the Maytag store in Lafayette. The one from Lowe’s is identical, but for some reason has only a 1 year warranty. The model number is also different. But they are the same exact machine. If you can, get it from an appliance store cause it’ll have a 5 year warranty on everything, and a 10 year limited warranty on the motor and washtub.

Good info, and me driving to Lafayette from BR to get one isn’t an issue if need be.

I purchased the R7 about 6-8 months ago. I got local quotes from Stantons and Appliance Distributors on Pecue Lane (now Ferguson). I honestly can’t remember of the top of my head who I ended up purchasing from but I remember that one was a few dollars cheaper but charged a small delivery/installation fee. The other had free delivery/installation. When that was factored in they were very close. I ended up going with the one who could deliver the quickest.

Got mine at Hebert’s Maytag in Lafayette. Good people, easy to deal with, real repairmen if you need them.

Landeche in Raceland is a dealer. That's where my wife and I and all her family buy appliances.

Bought a Speed Queen washer & dryer in late December, got them from Gorman Brothers in Prairieville. I got the 5 Series with the agitator, couldn’t be happier with our purchase. Don’t waste your time with Stantons.

Gorman's is a good place to buy weed while you're there. The Gorman Brothers, Mike and Doug, are blazing from the time they get to work, until the time they go home.

I’ve bought from Gorman Brothers before - been some years though since I’ve been in the store.
