I am looking to get a new sofa and would like to know some quality well made brands that don't cost an arm and a leg. What are some recommendations? Trying to spend under $1000.

IKEA. No, seriously. Shipping is like $40 to the NO area, it will arrive as a flat pack so you need to be reasonably handy to assemble. But the price to quality ratio is very hard to beat. In addition, the modular styles have removable slipcovers, so you can wash or seasonally change the covers if you like. Plenty of third party vendors for slipcovers, too. I got a huge sofa, large chaise, ottoman, and a couple of chair cushions for existing chairs delivered to my house for just over $1K.

We bought a lazy boy from Lynn's in Thibodaux that was right at a grand. Good size and top tier quality.

Dreamsofa.com
Great product, lifetime warranty, well-built, very comfortable, and tons of customization options. It's all custom made when you order, so it will take a couple months at least, but it's well worth it. We bought a huge sectional from there and couldn't be happier.

American Furniture Direct on Airline.
Great stuff and affordable.
I know because I’m cheap and got ours from there.

I picked up a new sofa at Hurwitz-Mintz just a couple months ago when they were running a big sale. Got it for just under $1000 while normally selling for around $1800.
Damn thing like to killed me getting it in the house it is so much heavier built than the last 2 I had. My nephew who helped me asked if I had gotten a sofa bed----and it wasn't.
It has recliners on both ends and I opted for the manual mechanisms since replacing the motors for the electric ones can get in the $200+ range each---and the motors move much slower than just the manual levers to operate the recliners.
I'll have to call them when they open to find out what the name brand is since on my sales copy it just states a Brand Number. I'll post an update to this post when I get that info.
ETA: I contacted Hurwitz-Mintz and the manufacturer of my sofa is a company called Southern Motion. I've had it a couple months now and am very satisfied with the quality of the product.

If you’re in the Baton Rouge area, check Christian Street on Corporate. I bought mine from there several years ago and, so far, it’s held up extremely well.
