Doesn't sound like a new roof is going to do you much good....

Depends, does the shingle have any advanced degrees, drive a luxury car, or belong to a country club?

If so, then chances are it's better that the others.

Hopefully all the shingles are the same. If one is better than the others, that might be a problem.

Atlas is a superior shingle to Owens. That’s at least the opinion of the half dozen or so roofers that I spoke with.

Well that's good to hear because they are less expensive than the Owens.

also the Atlas is mildew resistant, so no black streaks over time. Not sure if others offer this

None of those things matter if that shingle doesn't regularly post on the OT.

Atlas made a defective shingle mostly sold to builders in the Southeast called Atlas Chalet shingles. The 30 year shingle failed and were shite by about year 10. Atlas discontinued the shingle and denied all warranty claims. frick Atlas.

Google Atlas Chalet for all the info you care to read.
