Looking to remodel our master bathroom. It is approximately 300 sq ft with shower, jacuzzi, extra long double vanity with high end materials. What kind of cost do y’all think I’ll be looking at to have contractor complete. TIA

If you are serious about this then $50,000 and I’m not bullshitting. You’ll spend $2,500 on faucets alone for true high end.

You really can’t quote this to be honest without seeing it. But even a modest master bath can be $25,000 fairly easily if work is in high demand. A large chunk of your costs will be determined by your materials. You can pay $20/ sq ft for flooring material and $8,000 for a high end tub, or you can pay $500 for a tub and $2/ sq ft for flooring. There’s also tons of extras like heating flooring.

Eta: Just a basic standard bathroom with mid grade materials like granite counters and the best big box store faucets is gonna run you $7,000-10,000 usually.

Just finishing a master bathroom. Took out a Jacuzzi and installed a big/long soaker tub, brick pavers up that area, new Vanity I built and a Granit custom top, all new plumbing, removed a short wall, moved electric switches, complete new texture, all painted and new molding, new custom blinds. Cost is at $1350 give or take a few bucks, I did not have to touch the walk in shower or shitter. Nor did I do anything with the walk in closet, but I do need to sling some paint there.

I did all the work which took about two weeks. If I would of called someone in, that would of cost around another $2500 easy.

This is the tub I installed. Area wasn't finished yet.

Fishfighter, I love that tub!!!

We gutted our master bathroom, taking it from 1978 to 2019, making one space out of a bathroom that had been divided with vanities/closet in one section and toilet and tub/shower in another. Total cost: $32K

I had a hard time taking good pictures, but we love the final result. (I also don't know how to make towels look like they do in professionally staged rooms. )

Your counter top is almost like mine. Still waiting on it to come in. Was suppose to be finished Friday. Using Vessel sinks on ours.

That tub is 68" long and holds 40 gallons of water. Being 6' tall, I can lay out in that sucker. Always wanted a tub that I could stretch out in.

Yeah. I love how all of these home improvement shows renovate an entire house for about that same amount.

We did a high end bathroom remodel in our Nola condo (which presents its own challenges), and it was around 50-60k. Our contractor was highly sought after and his price tag reflected it.

I finished up mine a few months ago and did most of the work myself. It cost me $8k and got told by a contractor that what I did would've been 12-15k in labor. I knocked out old shower and built a bigger one, new double vanities, replaced garden tub with free standing tub, new floors and installed 3 pocket doors. Had to move plumbing around to accommodate new vanities and tub. Not hard to drop $20k in a nice bathroom these days.

I did mine last year. Was about the same size and it cost me 4k. The only thing I didn't touch was the shower, everything else was replaced including plumbing. Did pex pipe, new freestanding tub, heated tile flooring, new 81" vanity, paint, new faucets.

I bought stuff throughout the year and watched out for sales. My best friend is a contractor so I got some stuff at his pricing. After I was done he told me he would have charged 25-30k for what I did.

It took me about a month from start to finish

I don't normally care about downvotes but I don't know why I got them this time? My information was essentially mirrored by others.

What I was trying to help people understand is "high end" is not the best $400 faucet that Lowe's sells. You go to a place like Ferguson Plumbing and there are faucets in the $1000s. You can drop $1000 for the best tub at Lowe's or go to Ferguson and drop $10,000 with not every option selected.

Plus, I'm guessing labor is high in Chicago.

for our area.

wouldn't chicago benefit from more competition and be less expensive? of course i have no idea about codes up that way or other issues (like insulation, etc.)

those shows make me irrationally angry when i see that.

yes i know its TV and they are likely volunteering the labor portion but the price tags on TV renovations are completely out of whack with real life.
