I'm looking to get some new tools, maybe even a set. I'd prefer battery powered. I know nothing about brand quality these days. Can y'all recommend any?

check back through the posts on here. what tools? string trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, cordless drill?

lots of fans of EGO on here (if you're starting fresh) including me. fantastic battery life and great products.

There are alot of factors that go into this request. price point, type of work, etc. If you simply want recommendations of most popular consumer tool brands without considering other factors, you likely can't go wrong with Makita, DeWalt, or Milwaukee.

Mostly drill and circular saw. Are there battery wood routers?

Big fan of Ryobi 20V. Half the price of DeWalt. More then enough for a DIY person. I had put the Ryobi tools thru a full test. Give them a very good mark. Now if I were to make my living off power tools, It then it would be DeWalt.

i have dewalt 18v system but they changed the posts on the batteries when they went to 20v which i think was a shitty move to bilk their existing customers.

i love my dewalt but i picked up some cheap LioN batteries on amazon when the 18v NiCADs stopped charging. they were 1/4 the price of dewalt and without buying an expensive post-adapter LioN wasn't an option for my 18v tools.

One tool I would NOT buy as a battery power tool. Routers use a lot of power. I don't even know if they make it.

Yeah I'm just starting into woodworking, and I do a bit of DIY around the house. A buddy let me borrow his set of Ryobi cordless tools and I liked them a lot. Small battery, and the circular saw cut through 3/4" birch like butter. I just didn't know if they would hold up for a while.

I'm a ryobi guy as well... their One set of tools has so many different offerings that take the same battery. If you wait, usually around fathers day HD does Ryobi days and they'll have some killer deals on the sets

I'm a huge fan of Bosch tools.

I have several cordless drills, pony router that gets used a lot and a big sliding miter saw that also gets used a lot.

I have a couple of their 10.8v cordless drills that are getting close to 13years old. One is a standard drill and the other is an impact. For quick chores around the house they are absolutely perfect. It's now a 12 volt.

for heavier stuff I have 2 18 volt drills and one 18volt impact drill.
I could not begin to tell you how many projects these drills have been used.

Dewalt makes an adapter for like $30

OP, I have Dewalt drills, sander, blower, chainsaw, etc...all have worked great. They do have a small hand router but I have used it yet. Research the big companies and make sure they provide all the tools you want/would want, then stick to that brand. Toolbarn.com normally has some great combo deals. You might want to wait until Father's Day for extra discounts

Yes, dewalt and rigid both make one. I have the dewalt 20v and it works great for small quick jobs.

Dewalt and rigid both make just about anything you can think of that is cordless. Dewalt also has blowers, trimmers etc.

Got one of their drills. To replace a battery, I don't think I could find one cause it so old.

I have the dewalt 20v router that I use for door slabs and it's one of my favorite purchases along with the cordless sander and nailer.

The batteries on those 10.8 volt are the originals and like I said, they're at least 13 years old.

Ryobi makes a battery powered trim router. It seems to work good for small jobs

i mentioned that in my post. i just didn't like the fact i had to buy 2 very expensive batteries plus an adapter when i could get a set of aftermarket batteries for 1/4 the price.

the LioN batteries i bought on amazon work with the ancient 18v nicad charger and are incredibly lightweight considering how much longer they last than my old 18v.

i like dewalt; but i was looking at $300+ for a new set of 20v tools (much cheaper to go 'all in' than buying one-at-time) and i think the 2 batteries set me back $35.

Then you don't know what you're missing. I have a Dewalt 20V compact router, in addition to a corded one and a bigger Bosch mounted in a table, and it has plenty of power for most tasks not requiring a bench-mounted one. I know professional carpenters that have multiple of these routers, all setup for specific tasks as it's worth the investment for big savings in time.

How about recs for a polesaw?

That would be my first foray into battery powered tools but would like to go with a brand/platform that has other good landscaping tools like blowers and also some power tools
