Why would you need to hire someone to re-caulk your bathroom?

Probably because like me, he has no idea what he’s doing.

Although lately I’m much more inclined to watch some YouTube videos and give it a shot.

Like around your tub? Pretty easy to cut out the old stuff (there’s a special grout removal tool) and then get some sanded caulk to replace it.

Caulking is my favorite household thing

Always a good idea to wipe down the joint with acetone after removing the old caulk, especially if a silicone caulk was used originally.

This is def something you can handle, and good to know how to do as a homeowner. Watch a video or two and take a shot at it. Worst case, you let it dry and do it again. Caulk is not expensive.

You might be able to get a plumber to do it OP. Otherwise a handyman would be your best bet. It’s not hard at all as said, I suck at making it look good though. I can do it half the time, the other time looks like crap.

While caulking is one of those things that most everyone can do; it's also one of those things were pride and quality of craftsman is most evident. However it's real easy, in fact there's hardly anything easier thing to learn. And it's also cheap enough to practice on.

I'd suggest setting up a couple compatible test pieces to practice on first. Couple pieces of scrap anything... even cardboard. Then go for it.

One tip - get the ergonomics right - by developing a motion where your arms are not restricted or cramped. Think fluid motion like with a paint brush, where the gun, your arms, elbows, and shoulders move as one. As opposed to pulling the caulk to you. Try to avoid being at 12 o'clock and pulling from 9 then pushing to 3; because that transition can easily get you.

A damp sponge makes all the difference in the world.

And if going back with new silicone, use Isopropyl Alcohol in a spray bottle to smooth out the new caulk. Apply the caulk, spray over it with the alcohol and run your finger over the joint to smooth out the caulk and leave a nice clean line. Have plenty of paper towels on hand to wipe your hand clean when done.

Painters and plumbers do calking. A painter might be cheaper than a plumber.

YouTube is free man. And caulk can be ripped right up IF you screw up.

Unless you have some monster walk in multi nozzle travertine shower. Then yeah call a contractor.

Good luck. I’m not in BR so I have nothing to offer.
