Putting down Bermuda seed timing

Is now an optimal time to put down Bermuda seed? I’ve heard 150
Combined high and low temp is the bench mark. We are pretty much right at that mark. Or would you wait until a little later in the month?

We've been at 160+
Soil temps are well into the 80s.
Throw it down.
What seed are you going with?
Total renovation?

Following because my centishit lawn is awful and would like to throw bermuda in it to overtake it.

Did mine about a month ago. Grass is filling in nicely but the weeds are driving me crazy. Going to keep cutting it low and hopefully the Bermuda takes over

Going with LaPrima. Cleared an acre last year. Rounded up all the weeds and then tilled and leveled here in the last few weeks. Put irrigation in also.

Have you seen this? centipede to bermuda plan

If you have irrigation, you can effectively plant anytime it’s warm enough.
But now is a great time. It’s not super hot to dry everything out quickly, but warm enough for the grass to grow in.

MSMA and 2-4-D are your friends.

Right now? Everything I have read is you don’t want to spray anything on the weeds until the grass is at least a year old. Currently watching the nutsedge take over a section of my yard and crabgrass popping up in others. I pull what I can but I can’t keep up.

Your game plan is exactly right. Hand pull, mow, let the bermuda become established and dominant. It will happen.
Everyone knows seeding takes time and isn't easy. Weeds being one of the reasons.

La Prima is a great seed. How long have you had it or where did you buy it frrom? I haven't seen it at my normal places.
Keep the herbicide off of newly sprouted grass. You can always attack weeds later.

When would you say it's "OK" to spray herbicide on Tifway sod? Once rooted and after a few mows? Not referring to blanket spraying, rather spot spraying with a Celsius / Certainty / etc.
Thanks ronk!

I had a little left from some seed I put out last year in another area, which did great. I stored it inside so I’m hoping the seed is still good. It’s in unopened sacks still.
Then I bought the rest of what I need for this area back in April from Hancock.

Thank you!
At what point would you fertilize it? And what would you use? Triple 13?

Fert just before seeding or during seeding, or even a couple of weeks after. Not sure it really matters. Probably easiest to do it the day before.

Usually fully rooted and then 2 mows.

What are your normal places to buy Bermuda seed in bulk (25 lbs-50 lbs)? Any particular seed/brand you recommend or I should stay away from?

I’ve bought several hundred lbs of Bermuda Royal TXD from Hancock Seed and have been very happy with it.
I’ve also bought from Outside Pride.

That's the seed that I want to buy. Can you buy it at a brick and mortar store or do you have to have it shipped? I've looked online and it appears it has to be shipped.
My lawn is getting aerated today and I'm concerned to by the time the seed arrives it will lose the benefit of aeration.
