Santa ain’t bringing this one. This thing has been kicking my arse for two days

Oh 4 hrs shouldn’t be too bad....

End day 1

End day 2...

Just got the slide and a climbing ladder left.

My owners aren’t happy with the current construction schedule.

That looks like one of the easier ones. Took me two weeks after work each day to put together the wood one we bought from Academy. Never again. They need to start making those 1980's metal swingsets popular again.

Edit: When we moved, the wife got another one. The box sat on the back patio for three weeks. The previous homeowners paid for a month of the yardman. Since I did not need him I let him know he would be gone at the end of that month. On his last day, he offered to put it together for $200. Best $200 I ever spent, and I bet he never makes that offer to anyone again.

First, get a bottle of whiskey. Pour a glass and start building. When you get to the end of the bottle or too drunk to understand the instructions, tell the "owners", "Santa's elves forgot a couple of piecs. I have to call hi and he will drop them off tonite." Take a break for the day.

I built this one from plans and it took me 2 weekends. I understand your pain. I’d like to think my daughter is in it every day BUT she’s not so I go in it and have a beer to make myself feel better and money and time spent.

That’s nice! I’m happy with what I bought and in hindsight it wasn’t that bad. One of those where it would be nice if the damn bolts were about an 1/8” longer to make it way easier. The four hours assemble time must be the start time after all the pieces are out the box and organized with their hardware .

My girls have lived on it since it’s been done. Even try to go outside after dark for some evening swinging.

I was going to but my wife got some stupid cheap deal on one from target. Way cheaper than the lumber to build one.

Two fricking days later.........I wish I had just built one.

I had an old boss tell me that his kids had outgrown their play set and wanted me to come to his house and disassemble it so I could take it for my young kids. Laughable.

He was acting like he was offering me an amazing deal. Sorry dude don’t want your 10 year old junk

Once put one of these together solo, in one night, began after church at Christmas eve. Went to bed after we opened Christmas gifts Christmas morning. I did spend a bunch of time sorting thru pieces and had all little sets laid out with the wood and all hardware needed, so it was just fly along throwing it together. It took a day to sort the stuff out.

It was one that had the two level fort and two swings and a glider. Slide coming off the fort. Kids never gave two shits about it. Probably played on it a total of 20 hours

where did you find the plans? Looks great, would you recommend it as a good family project or did you you do it by yourself? Thanks!

Here are the plans. I didn't do the swing set portion because I didn't have the space. I also didn't do the 1st level section like they did since i wanted it open. The plans also were a little vague at times making me have to redo a few things and figure out how to lay the roof but I figured it out over a beer break.

Certain parts require a helping hand and it would likely require someone with some strength so if the family project is with younger kids, you may want to have your SO help as well. It was frustrating at times but it was fun to build as I like doing things like this. it also helps that I got the slide for free.

The wife and I spent our anniversary/mother's day/her birthday weekend (yeah, I am a complete idiot when it came to setting our wedding date) putting one together for our oldest son. That was 5 years ago. Thankfully we have another toddler now so it is going to get at least another 7-8 years of use. Heck, my 12 year old daughter still swings on it a good bit. She's too tall to get up in the tower part and the slide now, but a couple of long days reading cryptic directions is worth it for a decade plus of use.
