Outside hose bibs - no water - onside fine

So I dropped faucets for last few nights…. Inside water ,hot and cold, good to go.
Opened up hose bib to use hose, thin stream only.
I’m assuming those lines froze up- can this happen when all other areas are working, and only 1 water main into house?

Yes, the hose bib is a branch off the main. If you are getting a thin stream, let it run for a while to erode the ice buildup in the line but open and let run the next nearest faucet to reduce back pressure. If no stream then wait for it to melt, don't run.

hose bibs are always the 1st thing to freeze - it's a branch going to the outside.

Re: freezing temps and hose bibs. This year I used those styrofoam faucet insulators with the hard plastic covers for my 4 outdoor spigots. Last year I wrapped all of them with shop towels and wrapped the towels with duct tape to make a waterproof mitt. It worked when we had 12 -18 degrees for 4-5 days.

I have a pier and beam house and have always dripped the outdoor spigots. This year I bought the freeze miser outdoor faucet protectors ( actually a knockoff brand of them) and they worked very well. They only drip when needed and shut off when water temps in the line reach 37 degrees. They were a bit expensive but they worked and I have them nowfor moving forward with the next freeze events.

Soak medium size towel with hot water then put in microwave for a minute or two. remove with tongs and wrap hose bib while it is open. let it sit till cool and repeat if necessary.
