where did you find that? you want to at least know how many watts the transformer can push and that thing looks kinda small.

It's from a Costco kit. That's what I was thinking also. I may just get the kit that is only spotlights and get a transformer separate.

I bought a volt set similar to this at costco with the exact transformer. It is a 100 watt transformer which is plenty for that and more lights.

CAD, I thought the same but then I realized once you buy the transformer, the wire, the lights, the connectors, etc it adds up and the volt stuff is really really nice and easy to setup. I bought the 6 pack set of pathway lights (transformer, wire, etc.) for $360 at costco. I then added these from Amazonwhere I needed spotlights (they work great). The pathway lights are more about aesthetics so I wanted those to look good but the spotlights I didnt necessarily care so I saved money there. What is also great abou thte volt sets is the hubs which help you save cost on wire

If my math is right that can handle about 15 spotlights? I saw on a volt video to figure 5W per bulb x 15 spotlights = 75 and they say to only use 80% of the transformers watts.

Generally thats about right. Depending on the fixture/bulb but 5 is a good average. The larger silver transformer I believe is a 150w.

I've done a few installs recently, I use Kichler transformers, pair of 200W digital programmable units and a 600W commercial unit for another. Whatever route you go, just remember less is more when it comes to these things today. Modern LED fixtures put out WAY more light than you think. Don't look at a display and think it represents real-world use.

I used a 1000 lumen spot fixture on a deck mount base screwed into the base of the trunk. It's a directional way of doing it though, works great if you are only concerned with how it looks from the street.

I put in Phillips Hue outdoor lights. The starter pack came with 3 outdoor spot lights. I want to add some of their pathway lights as well. Love the Hue lights

I’ve been looking at these for a year, have them all inside my house and in my cabana, the amazon reviews seem to be very mixed with how weather proof they are. Have you noticed any issues?

I was also reading you can only chain 6 together on the same line.

They make flood lights too I’d like to get to put around the house to change colors during different events

*bump*

for the next 27 hours Amazon has the ring 200w smart low voltage transfomer *PLUS THE BRIDGE* for $83.

the transformer alone is usually $99 plus add another $20 for the bridge.

LINK

It says "exclusive prime deal" so you may need to be logged in to see the $83 price. make sure you select the package which includes the bridge. the regular transformer alone is still $99.

I only have the starter pack set up with 3 lights. Two between my front door and one in a bed shining up on a large oak. They look great but yes I’ve heard you can only hook up 5-6 on one line.

No issues with weather so far. I have the line buried by mulch. Only thing I’ve read about issues is with lots of snow. Being able to change the colors is awesome and I’m looking to expand with the outdoor fixtures
