My contractor will be using gaf timberline hdz shingles and colors. I am leaning towards pewter gray or weatherwood but having a hard time deciding. What's the boards thought?

Driftwood or weathered wood goes best with your brick
I think driftwood is the best choice for your brick, but either will look nice

Here’s driftwood on a house from their website

It has both gray and peachy undertones which you need to tie in your brick.

Driftwood or weathered wood
These were my final two options when I replaced roof at previous house after Ida. I think I ultimately decided on Weathered Wood

Your roofer would know better! My roofer picked out my color. Much of the same when I built houses, my painter did it, most times.
One of the folks from this board bought a house, ask me to get my painter to meet with him and his wife. We got to the house before them, my painter took one look at the brick, pulled a can of paint out the back of his truck, painted a section on the house. Then the couple drove up, looked at the color, said we like it, done.

The first thing I would do before deciding on the color is to request your roofer to use a different shingle.
Do some research and you will find that GAF is not a good shingle compared to others . They sell a lot of their products through Home Depot and Lowe’s and cut corners to keep the price down at the retail level. Roofers can get wholesale pricing from distributors on much better products.
Look at either Atlas Shingles, Owens Corning or Malarkey.

Roofer is probably a sketch if he’s pushing gaf

Something you may want to consider, the lighter the color of the single, the lower the air temperature in the attic during summer which has potential to significantly improve the cooling efficiency of your HVAC…….if that’s a is an issue for you.

You should mix the red, the white and the blue

Dear baby Jesus... don't pick green shingles.

Just get black. They're going to turn that color eventually anyway.

Get a different brand that’s cheap junk

We have driftwood and a similar brick. Happy with our choice.

Like other posters have said, do NOT use GAF. If your roofer is pushing that shingle, get another roofer.
Some roofer say they don't carry xyz brand of shingles but smaller mom and pop roofers don't generally carry any brand. They get their shingles from a supply house as needed. Often times they get incentives by using the same brand. Some of the shady guys also don't want your roof to last very long so you need/want another roof sooner rather than later.
I've actually had some roofer tell me he would never use a good shingle because he is working himself out of a job. He primarily used GAF.

I second Owen’s Corning
They all have similar colors, so maybe pick a color combo suggested in the GAF, but in a better brand ;)

My only concern with OC is their warranty is crap. Had a client who had a warranty claim they approved. They sent him a voucher for the shingles. No money for tear off, felt, nails, labor, hip and ridge. Nothing.

I just had GAF timberline HDZ Charcoal installed a few months back.
I was originally thinking pewter, but I drove by 4-6 houses with pewter with recent installs in the past 5 years. All were stained.
I know there's a stain warranty, but the charcoal doesn't stain.
