This tree would be too small to hold fruit (although it will try). A mango needs to be about 4 feet tall with a trunk about 1-1.5in wide before you allow it to hold fruit. Allowing it to fruit before it is large enough can stunt or kill the grafted tree.
Once mature (2-3 years), it will begin to flower as soon as sustained cool weather below 60F arrives. Usually December for us. It will continue flowering through winter and finish up the bloom in spring, setting fruit all along the way. Harvest is over the summer. Whole process takes anywhere from 6-8 months.
Be aware that mangos can lose the flowers and/or fruit below 40F, but will usually rebloom if more cool weather arrives.

Yep. That right there looks like real dirt. Don't forget, you are going to have to water daily when it gets hot. And sometimes twice daily if in full sun.

Look at this amazing potted M-4. This guy has done a marvelous job with his pruning. Makes me want an M-4... but I'm gonna hold out for the Zill 40-26.

What kind of pot is that on the edge of the picture with the spikes?
Posted on 3/18/26 at 8:29 pm to TimeOutdoors
That's an air pruning pot. It prevents the roots from circling and becoming rootbound. I much prefer microkote for this. Those air pruning pots don't hold water, are flimsy, and look ugly. But they do work.

Can you get microkote anywhere locally? I don’t wanna have to wait

No. Proprietary product. I always keep some on hand.
That... honestly looks better than most potted avocados I've seen.

I propagate figs every year. Would be happy to share if you aren’t too far away.
Thank you for the reply. I searched around a few days ago and found a site that seems to be legit, but they don't have anything available until May. I set a reminder on my calendar to check back with them. I am in NW Louisiana (south of Shreveport)

It looked much better last week

Nice, happy growing! If you’re looking for a specific variety let me know. Figbid is a great source for fig cuttings and rooted cuttings, just read the seller’s reviews before purchasing. I’ve purchased many times from figbid and will be selling on there later this year.
Edit - I’m located in South LA about 3 hours from Shreveport. If you have trouble sourcing what you’re looking for let me know.

Have also had good experiences with Chesapeake Figs and NJ Figs. Good selection and prices.

How big will barbados Cherry get here? I need to get it out of the bark soil and just wondering how big of a pot to use.
Posted on 3/19/26 at 10:12 am to audioguy
Will get as big as you can cover. Will need to prune. Does well with pruning and containers. Bigger is always better with containers.

Where did you buy the Barbados Cherry? I’m going to be in Lake Charles a few days next week so I’m going to check out a few nurseries there.
