This is why I like Bermuda.

Celsius, nitrogen, cut and it looks great.

I finally bit the bullet two years ago and switched to Celsius. Havent looked back. Everything that all the other stuff temporarily killed has vanished since the switch. I use Q4 occasionally, simply because its cheaper and saving the Celsius for the warmer periods.

I've had the same problem with my male mutt. Grass instantly yellows at the sight of him lifting his leg.

He has a skin yeast infection I have been fighting for a while. Lately it has been getting better and I've noticed less yellow spots in the grass. I put him on a different food and made sure his water bowl is full all day. Seems to be helping. I can link the dog food if you'd like. It may help.

Sometimes UTIs can make dogs kill the grass too.

I gave up years ago. Now Spring Green shows up 5 times a year. I never think about it. Yard is lush and green. Worth the $40 per visit just to not worry about it any more and the results are great.

My wife has been making fun of me because I bought some round up in deodorant stick form and have been crawling around the yard wiping it on Dallas grass. My yard was just starting to look decent and the st aug went to shite from a fungus during the last week of rain. I'm at the point of giving up as well.

Interesting….link?

My Bermuda has done quite well (seeded last year) but have an infestation of dallisgrass. Tried some spot glypho treatment, but it really knocks back the Bermuda pretty bad. MSMA was my next try.

I got it at Tractor Supply

Amazon link.

If you wipe it on one blade of the Dallas grass it takes about a week to kill the whole plant. Works pretty well. It's cheaper to use a glove and some mix but this is pretty easy and is a great way to kill time after work.

What's a good time to spread bermuda seed? Thinking of seeding my backyard, I already have a spreader and getting tired of the clover and other weeds back there. Also any brands to look for or avoid when getting seeds?

Aerate it and top dress it with play sand. I use sandy loam on mine. $40 for a cubic yard. As soon as the spots I leveled fill in my yard will look like a golf course.

I'm in a similar boat, except with fungus. I'm in a constant battle with brown patch, gray leaf spot and take all patch.

Following Ronk's advice to the T except that mother nature in DFW will not stop dumping rain. I put down disease EX last weekend and when I came back from a work trip, my yard was infested with brown patch. I even put down the curative rate.

I can't eliminate my grass but this year I am pulling up a ton of grass in the front and putting in asian jasmine.

There’s not much you can when it rains that much.

Spring/summer as long as you can keep the seed moist. I planted it in Mid-May and early-August last year and it came in fine. Just had to water it a ton. Planning to plant again mid June with a bunch of sprinklers.

I’d suggest Pennington brand if looking for a brand name. Just look out for the “weeds” content, want to make sure it’s <0.1%.

Also, if going an improved variety, I’d suggest something from Hancock seeds or Outdoor Pride or somewhere like that. I’ve used Arden 15, but it’s pricey. Just bought 25 lbs of Royal TXD as a cheaper alternative to the Arden 15. Hancock has pretty good support and helped me make a decision on an affordable alternative to the Arden 15.

I’m with you Hammond. Doesn’t help that my last house had a gorgeous St Aug yard that required virtually zero effort other than making sure the sprinkler system came on daily. Now, I look at a complete shite show with very kind of grass and weed I’ve seen on this board well represented. I’ve somewhat arrested the weeds, but their spot in my landscape is being taken over by Bermuda, which I loathe. I guess I’m going to have to save up for a complete resodding or learn to live with ugly.

You are doing a lot of things wrong for centipede.

You shouldn't use Milo or anything else other than a X-0-X fertilizer like 15-0-15. Don't do weed and feed.. period.

Pre-emergents should be used sparingly. They really slow centipede runners and its already a slow grass.

Get a soil test to see if you need to change your PH.

I'm personally not a fan of using pesticides except for spot treatments. Your lawn should be a functioning ecosystem and mass killing most of the bugs is a bad for it.

Watch this video on centipede care. You may have to pause it to take notes because he just blurts out stuff sometimes like the chemical composition your fertilizer should be derived from, etc.

Do you have centipede?

What’s your method for top dressing it? Just spread it around with a rake?
