Ideal Throttle Position When Engaging Blades?

For the ZTR baws, what say you… my gut says low throttle seems easier on the machine… does
It matter?

I was told by the dealer when I bought mine that anytime the blades are engaged it needs to be running at full throttle.
Makes sense, as you would probably slip the belt by engaging them at low engine speed.

I go half throttle.

Edit: Just checked Gravely Owners Manual and it says 3/4 throttle.

Depends on the machine. My Kubota has a PTO and with it it’s recommended to be low throttle. Some belt driven machines want wide open.

Manual says full, dealer said full, so full it is.

Read your manual. Most makes are full throttle, some are half.

Mine dies if it’s not at least half throttle. I go full

I have a Bobcat. Dealer told me low throttle, but I will have to go look it up.
Edit - I looked it up and manual says do not engage at max throttle rather the minimum load that can handle the load

I always thought like you, but every source I’ve seen says full throttle.

My old hustler 42” said 3/4 throttle. I need to double check new but I’ve been going with that on the new 60” too.

WAO (wide arse open). When I'm turning the blades off, I throttle all the way down first. Seems like it would be easier on the clutch when coming to a screeching halt to slow the blades as much possible first.

My Hustler manual says 3/4" throttle engage and low throttle when disengaging.
