I need concrete patio resurfacing ideas

I need concrete patio resurfacing ideas. Currently have a large uncovered concrete slab patio. It has a few minor settling cracks in it and just generally isn’t very aesthetically pleasing. 25 years old at this point. I looked at blue slate, but holy shite it was expensive. For our size patio we’re talking almost $30k.
Is there something cheap out there? Should I resurface with textured concrete or will that look bad? Another note, I have a bunch of kids and they play on it a lot.

pics of the current patio? if they're already playing on it, I would imagine you wouldn't want to change it up.
if the cracks aren't causing the slab to deform, maybe consider just filling the cracks?

It's not just about the cracks, I just don't like the way a massive piece of gray concrete looks I guess. Rest of my backyard is nicer and it sticks out.

Look into travertine pavers over sand.

Concrete stain? They come in a ton of colors now. That's probably your cheapest and easiest option.

They is the polymer applications that have the flecks in them? Acid stain? Stamped concrete overlay?

Sounds like you’re going to have to stain it if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. You can’t really resurface with a thin layer of additional textured concrete as it will just chip away over time. Concrete folks don’t like to pour less than 3 inches thick. Also it will probably crack again where it cracked before.
If you are willing to spend then check out outdoor porcelain pavers. They’re thin and you can select different textures from stone to wood.

You can resurface it. This is primarily what our company does. We use butterfield overlay products and have used them for years. Looking at roughly $7/ sqft for textured, stamped concrete overlays that are scored, stained, and sealed.

Cool Deck is an option. Nothing will beat $7 a sq ft but I think Cool deck was like $15-20 sq ft to have it done and I did my front porch myself and it was like $9 or 10 a sq ft. Prep work is super critical.
Other option is an epoxy paint with sand mixed in or flakes. A 5 gallon kit (10 gallons total- 5 gallons of part A and 5 gallons of part B) was like $2,000. Again, they can mix whatever color you want.

Im sure his company will go out and collect pictures of their work that is a decade old to satisfy your request.

Those are really nice looking installations.
How scratch resistant is it? Such as moving patio chairs, etc around on it often?

I just got a few estimates for ~1500 SF cool deck type surfacing and they ranged from $6.50-9.00/SF.

I have this question as well. I need to redo a patio at work that has an overlay that is coming up. It was a crap job in the first place 13 years ago and the it is about time to get this taken care of. I would also want to look at the front of my restaurant as well. Whatever product is used would have to have some grip to avoid bs lawsuits
