Clothes should still dry even if you're venting into the crawl space

Have only been in the house a couple months. Honestly wasn't that big of an issue except when drying blankets and such.

I thought the vent was vertical exiting onto the roof/rear wall. Figured it had buildup and was being lazy about cleaning it. Finally got the brush to clean it and took it apart today to find this.

You need to vent that to outside. That's a recipe for mold and mildew growing under there.

Working on it now. If you look they old ventcover it on the left of the pipe. It had enough length to get to the side of the house. After some work it must have gotten ripped off and covered.

Of course in the process of freeing it from under the dirt it became unattached in the middle of the house. So now under the house I go.

This. Run hard duct down then switch to vent/drain PVC pipe until it exits the crawl space. Galvanized pipe strap is cheap so use plenty of it.

Why? Because you thought it was your dryer but it was really your washer?

Just got back from Lowes with all the necessary equipment to do so.

Including strapping.

At least you have rigid flex tubing. Sip many use soft flex under homes in NOLA. the runs are long and the moisture in the exhaust settles and eventually makes the hose sag and water 100% block the vent.

I see it once a month. I don't crawl under houses though, so it's a service fee and leave job.

Be sure not to vent it next to your outside AC unit.. It will soon sport a felt/lint coat...
