I can't stand cars that honk or beep when you lock or unlock them. I read the manual and it didn't address this. I know this is a very popular vehicle on TD so had anyone stopped the beeps?
Do I need to just find and destroy the beep module?

Have you tried YouTube?

I've used it for Lexus procedures in the past.

You need to modify some parameters via the OBD-II port. I've done this on five or six Fords using $50 software called FORScan, and a $20 adapter that plugs into my laptop. I used it to fix annoying shite like it double honking when you left the engine running and got out and closed the door.

I would head to a Toyota/Lexus forum and ask about it. I searched quickly for the Toyota version of FORScan, but it turned up a lot of handheld units which are meant for professional use, not the dudes that are going to change three settings and leave it until you sell the car.

I've never owned a Lexus but a few vehicles I had you could stop the horn honking by pressing combination of buttons on your key fob. The lights would still flash but the honk would go away.

FORScan

I can't imagine being in the marketing dept of ford. "What we should name our diagnostic software? How something almost that sounds just like foreskin? Brilliant!"

This seems to be the only way. I was hoping it was like how it was on the Toyota.

Yeah good news you can use it for a bunch of stuff so it’s good to have if you’re going to be in the Toyota echo system. I used it to zero my crawl, adjust chimes, etc.

My car(not a Lexus) has an option to control that from the steering wheel menu buttons. Need to go over to whatever settings menu you have and see if it's an option.

Lexus was always helpful when I had mine. I’d go by the dealer and get one of the salespeople to try to help. It may cost you nothing.

lol, FORScan isn’t a ford product. Most of the software like this is built by Russians/Eastern Europeans.

carista doesn't work? You can get a 30 day trial for other $10 and cancel. I've used it over and over with just a cheap $20 odbii Bluetooth device off eBay.

Here you go: I looked up your car

Good news is you can turn off a ton of other beeps and shite too.

Even though it says second Gen GX it sounds like it works with the older GX as well. At worst you're out around $50 and you can still use the carista app on your other vehicles.

I used it to turn off the beep on lock/unlock and to enable the "hold unlock button to lower all the windows" and turn off the seat belt beep and enable the rear window up/down by turning the key in the lock on my 4Runner.

If for some reason I need to be in the car with seatbelt off, I don't want that damn beep going off.

Carista is fantastic and it provides a dashboard for a ton of shite going on in your car you can print out.
