I've seen a couple of different ways, was hoping some of you who have done would share your method.

I'll step back and listen. TIA

Ive only done this once. We put the studs on the flat screwed into the cross ways Z channel. You can do them normally but it makes the wall absurdly thick. Its already super thick just from the z channel and a 2x4 on the flat.

I dont remember what we did with the floor plate and top plate. I think for the floor plate we put it tucked back so it would be flush with the edge of the stud and the top plate on the flat on the top Z channel.

I cut probably 500 of these little pieces of angle and drilled 4 holes each in all of them and used self tappers to screw to the purlin and wood screws to fasten to the other side of the angle.

you can either put them up on the flat as downshift says, or stand the wall up with your top plate at the same height as your girt (usually 7'-4") and use flat simpson tie splices to attach. your bottom plate should be shot down to the floor in either case

I build stud walls normally, tap on the bottom plate, and put a 2x4 between studs and bolt that 2x4 to the girt.

are the girts already there? On the barndo build, i built separate wall sections Between each pole, secured on each end by 1/8" plate that was welded to the pole and lagged into each wall section.

Why does it have to be attached to the metal building?

This is a wall segment on the outer perimeter of the building; nothing else to tie the wall to.

To answer another question - it will be anchored to the slab.

I'm going to pick up a few Strong Tie brackets and see how they fit. Thanks for the idea.

Gorcha.

If the wall will not have any solid wood sheathing on the inside, I would add some 1x4s on the back side to tie all of the studs together. Or if you use drywall/pegboard, I would add extra screws to make sure that the studs stay rigid. Lumber is not the best these days and will do some crazy shite when they dry out.
