What kind of pine straw was it? Regular or dyed? And was it square bales or the big round bales?
Regular, square bales.

Is this your normal yard crew?
We had a group from the other side of the state hustling people where they’d promise some low rate then when the job was done they’d claim they’d used 2-3x what they actually did and charge like $50/bale.
My neighbor almost got hustled and for $70 worth of pine straw at Lowe’s the guy was trying to charge $2700 until he threatened to call the sheriff.

Teenage son would probably do this for $100-$300, depending on where he has to go pick it up and how many trips.

Do that shite yourself. I can't justify spending money on someone to lay straw on the ground.

It's a guy my wife has used in the past for various things.. He has a pretty big yard operation. He has never tried to break one off in us until now. Never again

Could have done it in 2 had they not been throwing sticks to my lab the whole time
This is gold. I’m going to steal this story as my own, as I own 2 labs. I lock them inside when gardeners come. Hahaha

Can't help on labor costs but wife and I just put down 45 round bales of pine straw yesterday @ about $13/each incl tax.
Good workout for us older folks (she late 50s and me early 60s)

How did your wife respond when you told her she should never have people do work before knowing what it’s going to cost?

Thats tough for 30 square bales

I like pine bark better than straw.
Likewise - pine straw is terrible. We just had 150 bags of pine bark spread, looks great. Landscaper was doing another job for us and only charged for materials, no labor. He’ll get my business every time.

quote:Better man than me. If my wife spent that kind of money on pinestraw without me be consulted first....... a very serious situation would quickly present itself.
One would think that but this is what this dude does for a living. She has used him several times for different jobs like this. He's always been kinda high on things but does a pretty good job. This shite here seems like highway robbery ..
