How much rain makes weed and feed ineffective

Yesterday morning I got some weed and feed down actually turned the sprinkler on to get it to set in (was worried about the dog going in the yard) and about 40 minutes later the sky’s opened up in Metairie and it hasn’t stopped raining. Yard takes on water pretty well and doesn’t seem to be under water but wondering if the weed and feed will do it’s thing or if it’s all washed away into lake p by now

It's my understanding weed and feed needs to sit on your lawn for the weed killing part to work; reason you water before or apply when grass is wet. If it's a pre emergent then the watering did good as well as the fertilizer part. What did your bag say?

Water immediately after application

Yeah... I've been told in the past to apply the weed and feed when there is dew on the grass or after a rain or watering because it helps the poison stick to the broadleaf weeds. Watering after would wash it off the broadleaves...
But I'm no expert.

Watering it, as the label describes, is to dissolve it and sink it to the soil level. This much rain will wash it out completely. I had that happen a few years ago. You will probably have to start over, depending on how much rain you've gotten in your area.
A good way to check is to look closely at your yard in the downstream areas where the water runs off. If you see a concentration of the granules you spread, the application has been washed away.

You effectively threw that weed and feed away

Honestly if your yard is relatively flat, you're probably fine. I put fertilizer out right before this rain and I'm not worried about it.

If your weeds are curled in two weeks then apply again but this time try separating your fertilizer and weed control.

Not likely affected the fertilizer component, can’t say about the herbicide component - what type of herbicide did the product have - atrazine, trimec, something else? Regardless, you’ll just have to wait and see, but don’t go re-apply until you see if the herbicide component works, if it doesn’t then you’ll only need to apply herbicide for the weeds you are targeting.

It was Scott’s Southern Triple Action. Was gonna seperate the weed and feed but got lazy and thought to take advantage of the weather so grabbed a bag from Lowe’s and spread it

Looks like atrazine is the herbicide - might be OK - you just need wait 2 to 3 weeks to see.

I spread the feed
and then come back and water it in with the weed killer.

That's what Clegg's told me. Said it's best to put weed n feed down when there's not rain expected for a few days.

I don't use the weed and feed products but I don't think a granular product sitting on the dirt or the plants leaf is how it is supposed to work. Granular products need to be watered in to be effective. Herbicides are taken up by the roots or dry on the plant and are absorbed. Then the herbicide is moved throughout the plant and roots to kill it.

From Scotts website: LINK
1) Check the Weather: If rain is in the forecast in the next 24 hours, apply another day. Rain can wash the particles off weed leaves before it has a chance to work properly.
2) Fill and Set Spreader: See below
Scotts® Broadcast Spreader: 4 1/2
Scotts® Drop Spreader: 7 3/4
Scotts® Wizz® : 5
3) Apply to Wet Lawn: Make sure that the grass is wet from dew or sprinkling before applying (this helps the particles to adhere to weed leaves to produce best results). After 24 hours , water the lawn to wash the particles onto the soil to prevent the germination of crabgrass.
4) Clean Up: Sweep product from hard surfaces onto the lawn to keep valuable feeding nutrients on the grass and out of storm drains.
