If like mine. They will tell you no at least three times. Then offer to replace only a few panels. If your guy is good he will get you a new roof. But he’s gonna have to play the game. Good luck

Don't call your insurance company.
Do call a respected and established roofing company that serves your area.
The established roofer will likely have a partner relationship with the insurance company to submit the claim just as an adjuster would.
The roofer will not file unless they know the claim will be accepted.
An established and reputable roofer will know what the insurance will cover and make it work or let you know what will not be covered.

UPDATE

Got an email today stating that the check was on the way, will come to about $13k after my deductible.

It lists that plus another $3k as "Net Claim If Maximum Depreciation Is Recovered." I'm assuming that would be the maximum total allowed to be paid out in a second payment?

You should really try to wait for storm season to be over before starting. See if your contractor can wait until early June.

Yes the depreciation comes in once the job is completed with photos and invoice. If the contractor finds, for example, extra layers of felt they need to remove they can submit a supplement to the insurance

I would avoid a roofer that says they can save your deductible.

The maximum if your contractor doesn't do any more supplements.

Like Cou said, maybe they find an extra layer of felt, or the adjuster missed some pipe boots, or you didn't have drip edge before but need it now to be up to code. So addition costs on the roofers in so he supplements the insurance so they are the ones paying for it, not you.

Just finished my claim from Francine. I recommend getting someone that will do a nice cash deal to fortify the roof while they are in there

Good points. We've had 3 roofers in the past 2 months wanting to "inspect" our roof for hail damage that could have occurred in the past month through last year. Said nope to all.
