$8 per 2x4 which was like $2.20 normally. $98 for a sheet of plywood which was $36 normally. It's nuts.

What is With The Price Of Building Materials?
I thought this was pretty interesting. I don't know much about building supply chains but figured I would put it here.

Yes to utilities, no to landscaping.

No I started building last June. Didn't know I had picked worst time in man kind to build, but oh well. It's a Beautiful home.
I'm right at ~$200-$205 all in when you include lot, landscaping etc.
Only work I didn't this time was couple of electrical things, like hooking up garbage disposal and led lights in wife's jewelry box, the unifi network and the epoxy on garage floors.
Also mine is a little higher due to Port a cache and having a 18x22 "garage" attached to that as my gym. Also it has a full mother in law apartment so has another full kitchen, another master suite, etc so way more cabinets and appliances.
Builder said it would be 250ish per to build same house again.

Appreciate the insight
That increase to $250 is all in cost or just on living?
This is definitely a shitty situation. My wife and I just talked in August after rushing into looking at a new place about being deliberate with our next home in where it is, price, if we build, etc and bow this shite happens and we might need to spend $200/ft on building new.
Glad you like your new home though

That's living. I mean I like it, it's fine as frick and huge.....but honestly I liked my last house snd my back porch and pool and really liked no mother in law. But after 18 months of living with the mother in law and being cramped and going through the building process.....I'm in love with any space that's mine

I was wondering if that was the actual plan

And windows are very hard to come by.
I can verify this. My contractor called me two days ago about my new windows. Delivery is 21 weeks out.

Just finished building in Slidell and moved in last weekend. Not including land, we paid 159$ per sq ft living and 108 per sq ft total. There’s a big discrepancy bc we have bunch of under beam covered outdoor area. This is also a custom home….all brick, custom cabinets, quartzite etc

But why?

We are about to start building in Broussard. We are in for $195 sft + the cost of the land (We just bought). Most builders are $200 sft +/- $10 sft.

Anyone have some current comparative data for building costs?
Posted on 7/28/23 at 6:11 pm to Curiosity
Spec homes around here are going around 150-155/sq ft living. Hard to give any idea because selections can make a huge difference. Lumber has come down since this thread was started but plenty of other things still high.

Thanks for the info. Does that include the land or just the improvements?
