I'm torn between doing a French cleat system or just mounting boards parralel and hooks to those boards.
The wall is 9 x 9 I would like to use most of it. The goal being keeping things off the floor so that the vacuum can Auto vacuum the room and I only have to empty it maybe once every couple of months

I used gladiator gearwall. Lots of options for mounts.

What if I were to relabel this and say has anyone made their own wall for storage by attaching wooden planks

I've seen whole rooms with 1/2" plywood under the drywall.
You can hang anything any where.

French cleat for the win. You can still buy any generic hook, holder and use the cleats to put it anywhere.

I have some slatwall and bought the gun hooks. I was able to find some slatwall that was recycled from an old business. It’s pretty expensive to do new but it does look good. Now I just need to come back and paint. Probably do a flat gray.

I used gallow tech and love it.

How do you secure them? Just lock the door to the room?

Well...you have to set the tripwire first.

I have used slatwall before, doing an entire store it is the easiest and fastest way to get set up. If I was doing it at home I might consider that but I would make sure it had metal inserts in the track. If not I would go with cleats, you can make cleats in any style.

After quite a bit of looking I'm pretty sure I'm just going to make French cleats out of maple plywood. I would love to just do Cypress boards but I can't seem to find any that are dry that aren't a million dollars
