Looking at doing an 800sq foot , don't really need any exotic shapes, I am partial to an L.

Any really great reasons for the extra 20 or 30k for concrete?

I think liner pools get way too much shite. You can change a liner out yourself if you want to. They all have downsides IMO.

I just can't believe the price of pools these days.

I was 100% fiberglass for the past few months. After seeing the prices of fiberglass......I'm wanting to move towards a liner pool.

My neighbor has gunite. Probably 2-3 times a year he is draining it and pressure washing for black algae. I just float in my vinyl liner pool and listen to the pressure washer.

He’s letting the pool run him instead of running the pool

just did a gunite pool, its very expensive compared to a liner pool but you get what you pay for. mines fully custom.

my good friends have a liner pool and plan to re do it with gunite next summer due to the liner always having issues.

We did gunite pool. Have had no issues. I just dont like the feel of a liner or fiberglass on my feet. My gunite is a touch rougher than I would like, but I like that better than slick.

I'd be curious to see what the resell value is on vinyl, plaster and fiberglass. I doubt it's significant, but I could see a vinyl being more difficult to sell than fiberglass and plaster. Fiberglass maybe a little more difficult than plaster.

I've had two plaster pools built. One at my previous house and one at the new. Unless my income dictated differently, I'll stick with plaster.

I had both, liner wins based on installed price and repairs/replacement costs.

We did Gunite also. We priced fiberglass and it was double what we wanted with gunite. We had hell with the builder and fiberglass would have been much faster but, I think as of right now we made the right decision.

Go slightly smaller and get a raised hot tub section that waterfalls into the main pool. That's a LOT of area for a pool already.

With the right care and resurfacing materials, you should have a nice pooler with less maintenance overall. My parents have a Diamond Brite pool. Expensive but it looks incredible and slip resistant.

Personally, a pool is a pool. Vinyl does feel kinda cheap when you touch it, but at the end of the day you're just enjoying being in the water. If you're going to be spending money on a pool already, might as well make it a good one. Will help with resale value as well if you plan to sell.

We did gunite 2 years ago and are happy with it. It holds up for many years apparently. Not looking forward to re-plastering, but we’re a ways away from that. There’s pros and cons to every option. My old roommate in BR is looking to re-plaster, re-tile, and replace coping and they were quoted $85k!! That would’ve paid for our pool/spa plus travertine deck and landscaping with money left over.

A lot of this answer comes down to your location. Big regional differences in build types.

It'll be in the chattanooga area if that makes any difference
