Got lucky at Lowe's yesterday: 70% off EGO blower

Felt like sharing because I didn't think that you could find lawn equipment so heavily discounted. Picked up the EGO 615 CFM blower for $65 at Lowe's yesterday in the sale aisle.
I had to go buy a toilet part and was perusing through the clearance wall just to see if there was anything worth picking up. I noticed that the EGO blower was sitting out of the box by itself. Sticker on it showed original price $179 now marked down to $65 with employee initials and product information on it. The manager noticed I was looking at it and said it's returnable if it doesn't work (which was a concern for me) and that it was originally a floor model that was going up for sale since they can't do anything else with it.
I'll be selling my three year old 530 CFM blower to replace this and either make a little extra or break even while upgrading. With the new blower, I like the adjustable speed either by trigger pressure or setting it automatically with the knob and not having to actually pull a trigger.
Lesson of the day: always look at the clearance wall

Nice pickup!
Many times they have similar appliances in the back for clearance. Sometimes they are on the floor, other times you have to ask them to look on the computer.

Yeah I've seen floor appliances go for a good chunk off. The blower I picked up had a lot of scratches but that's no big deal. Nothing that can't be buffed off.

electric blowers club 4lyfe. i got a kobalt from a few years ago. can use inside. all over. no gas fumes. light. no repairs. just works. only slightly under powered compared to a quality gas blower. big fan. no pun intended.

We have seen the light.
Wish batteries lasted longer but I have 5 bigish ones that match 8-10 tools so it’s not a big deal. The trimmer is even more impressive compared to gas.
I’ve had a couple Dewalt tools throw the top motor bearing but that is $1 and 5 minutes to fix. Beats the crap out of fighting cords and gas motors.
Nothing beats just grabbing a blower and doing a quick patio sweep with zero hassle. The wife even does it. I even have her Dyson vacuum (v7 I think) adapted for DeWalt batteries.

Nice snag. Lowes almost always has these kind of things for sale.

Lowe's is starting to keep their heavily discounted appliances and larger items at a different warehouse. I didn't know anything about it until my neighbors got a hell of a deal on a "scratch and dent" refrigerator. They found it at a regional (I think) Lowe's warehouse of some sort. The only blemish on it was a dent/gauge on the side, and after it was tucked into the refrigerator hole it wasn't even visible. They got right at 50% off with the return policy if anything was wrong with it.

Unfortunately it didn't come with a battery. I've already got a 2.5, 4, and 7.5 Ah. Might end up selling the battery and charge it came with because 2.5 will die a bit quicker, but I'm thinking I can get the job done faster to somewhat cancel out the time saved vs. battery usage.

70% off would put it down to $53.70 but still a good deal.

You're right I misspoke. I was basing it off the price with the battery and charger. They couldn't find just the leaf blower itself on the computer (seemed like a new employee) and did the price off the blower and battery/charger combo which did add up to $65 after 70% off.

Man, that is a hell of a deal on that blower. I have several ego battery powered devices including a chainsaw and I like every one of them!
ETA: Hell, now I want to go to my local Lowes to see what I can find!

I have the small Dewalt blower. And I use it way more frequently than I thought I would. I can blow out my garage with the squeeze of the trigger pretty easy. The property is big enough that I need a gasser for that, but the electric blower is incredibly easy when you don't need to spend a bunch of time with the gasser.

do you have a dirt cheap (aka 'dirty chicken') near you?
the one by our house had EVERYTHING; EGO mower, 700 cfm blower, tree trimmer, chainsaw, string trimmers...
my a-hole neighor found it first and got a carbon string trimmer and other good stuff like a few 5ah batteries then finally got around to telling me about it 2 weeks later knowing i was a card-carrying ego cult member.
i still managed to snag a 700 blower and a pole saw but all the high end string trimmers were long gone.
my string trimmer is my weakest EGO link right now; i got the VERY basic one back when i had never heard of EGO outside of this board and was diping my fricking toe into the water with the cheapest thing i could find.
my garage has way more ego shite than anyone should own

I use a weak 20v string trimmer. If you go with a really thin yet high quality string, then they’ll cut anything.

i just burned through a husqvarna .95 (i think) string refill way too quickly.
thats the size it calls for but are you saying i can run a thinner gauge through it?

THREAD HIJACK -
Anyone have issues with the Echo Speed Feed head? It's easy to thread the line through and get it full, but even when I use LESS line footage than recommended, the damn string seems to 'melt' together on the inside thereby causing constant issues with line spooling out when tapping the head.
Anyone else have this same issue??

I’m using 0.080 with the weak Dewalt trimmer. I like it. It will go through some string edging but it cuts just as good as a gasser assuming gasser has 0.095 or bigger. Just like the blower: absolutely zero hastle, grab n go.
