Getting new roof soon, any things to look at changing at the same time?

I am getting a grant for fortify so I am getting several quotes from multiple approved roofers.
One thing I plan to ask for is to add some additional venting via whirly birds in addition to replacing the existing ridge vents that are there as my attic gets entirely too hot and the AC struggles on the hottest days(both ACs have been replaced and have adequate insulation and have had an energy study done that did air sealing, vents checked insulation etc)
Any other things like that that add minimal costs that would make sense to change/add while it is getting done?

Get a solar powered attic fan. Mine came with a lifetime warranty.

Get ice and water shield around the entire perimeter and in the valleys. Synthetic underlayment for everything else. If you need any soffit or fascia replaced, now is the time to take care of that.

Yeah, this is what we had done when we replaced our roof last Fall. The synthetic roof felt is incredibly tough stuff too. Having the roof on my other house replaced this week, basically the same thing except different shingles. If needed, get somebody who can do custom sheet metal forming for drip edges and chimney flashing too.

I added whirly birds about a year before having my roof replaced unexpectedly. Great addition (fairly well documented on my posts on this board)
I did a fortified roof and was able to get 100% water and ice. I think they may have screwed up and done it on accident since it wasn't on my contract, but I sure watched them do it. (my original sales guy got fired the day after he met with my adjustor)
Anyway, the increased attic ventilation made a noticeable difference in the attic temps. Then I also blew in more insulation afterwards.
Nothing more to suggest really...

not to highjack, but how'd you go about getting a grant for the fortified roof?

A nightmare for the next roof replacement (especially if the owner didn't know it was there until they started removing the roof.

There was a grant program they held a lottery for certain parishes such as St Tammany that pays up to $10k. Mine is going to be much more than that, probably somewhere around 20-22k, basically will be about half price. I hear my insurance will go down drastically, I currently pay $5k, may go down to $3k, so it should pay for itself in maybe 5-6 years.

No need for Ice and water shield around the perimeter in La. Valley's are another thing
