I'm planning to remodel my shed by building some shelving, a work bench, pegboard, etc

Looking for a very simple (and preferably free) software app that lets me draw the walls, floors and ceilings and then move/place shelves, etc while maintaining measurements

I'm computer savvy, but not any CAD experience

any recs?

You used to be able to get a free trial of AutoCAD but I'm not sure if you still can. Microstation used to have a 7 day free trial as well. I know there are various free CAD programs but I haven't used any of them so I can't recommend any.

I think sketchup is a free software that should be able to do all of that.

Yes, there is an online version that is free to use. It's not as good as the paid version, but for what you're trying to do, it will work just fine.

I switched from AutoCad to LibreCad quite a few years ago. Mainly because I had switched from Windows to Linux. I find LibreCad to be almost identical to AutoCad and it will open and modify AutoCad drawings. Today they have versions for Linux, Windows, and Apple operating systems. It is 100% free.

AutoCAD has a 30 day free trial version. Watch a few youtube videos before you get the trial. Won't be hard to learn enough fairly quickly to do the level of drawing you are wanting to do.

Sketchup would be perfect for this if you can learn your way around. Watch a couple Youtubes on it. I was just using it for the same exact thing.

How simple? This is about as simple as you can get. I’ve used it to get my cut list. Like everyone is saying, sketchup is prolly more what you’re looking for
