Framing nailers

I'm looking to buy a pneumatic framing nailer. I already have a 35gal air compressor, so I'm not interested in cordless/fuel. Any recommendations? Not wanting to break the bank, but don't want junk either. No Chinese crap.

Hitachi has a good reputation for its framing nailers. I bought this one as a reconditioned tool several years back for “hobby” projects. LINK. Looks like they discontinued it for newer models. It’s probably made in China but to higher standards.

My porter cable has done well for about a decade (light use recently). I’d recommend getting an inline air filter, replacing gaskets can be pricey for framing nailers.

I bought a Bostitch low profile framing nailer and built two small buildings (Shed and Office)and I don't think I have experienced a single jam. used it with my little 7gal compressor and it will sink 3-1/2" nails.
It's the low profile version of this one:

Porter-Cable here too and have never had any issues with it. I don't use it as much as I once did since I'm retired, but every time I break it out, it works like a champ and did so for every job I used it on prior to retiring.

Hitachi was made in Japan and regarded as some of the best nail guns. Metabo took over all of Hitachi’s pneumatic tools in 2018 and I don’t know where they are made now....they are supposed to be exactly the same though.

Try Big Sky Tool. They sell refurb Hitachi/Metabo tools. Bought one several years ago and it works great.

Don’t get the Dewalt. Light use and mine stopped firing. Tried to rebuild it to no avail. Also I would stay away from clipped head nails becomes in some jurisdictions they don’t meet code.

I have a Hitachi NR90AE. Don't know many framing crews that run much else besides Hitachi or Senco, they simply work.

I've got two of these nailers and love them. One 16 gauge and one 23.
