Has anyone installed a filter to filter out chlorine and fluoride when watering your plants? Is there a noticeable difference? If you did what filter did you use ?

Just pour the water in a pitcher or bucket and leave it out overnight…the chlorine flashes off.

Why would you need to do this?

Fluoride in drinking water does impact some plants if that is the main source of irrigation. LINK

Catching and storing rainwater may be easier and cheaper than using the special filters needed to remove it. As noted in another post, chlorine is a gas and leaves water pretty quickly without filters being needed.

Whole house R.O. filtration is the only way you are filtering out fluoride from tap water and a system like that has to be $$$. Cheaper to setup a rain catching system but still going to be a good bit of extra work.

This is of no help but a found out a few years ago, Boise Idaho runs a second set of water lines to neighborhoods. One standard and a second irrigation water system that comes off the river and doesn’t have the chlorination. Just a cool feature

I’ve heard it all now. I’m honestly curious what plants are hurting from fluoride and chlorine? There’s people that irrigate their yard with city water, I’ve never noticed a difference.

Go water a potted lychee tree with city water and get back to me.

I think it’s more … why waste chemicals and treatments on water you use for plants and lawns? I’m sure it’s filtered to some extent for valve-clogging junk but otherwise it’s mineral rich compared to potable water.
