I’m buying a new weedeater and I’m going to get the Echo brand. My dad and brother have had echos in the past that have lasted forever.

I think I’m going to get the version that allows for different attachments. Do y’all use an edger or just do it with the weedeater?

Thinking about getting this - LINK

I have one that you can put different attachments on but I just use the weedeater attachment to do the edging.

I have a dedicated edger, but 99% of the time just use the weed eater.

Do you think the edger does any better of a job than the regular weedeater? I definitely want to get the one that’s attachment capable. The house I’m most likely purchasing next has a lot of trees

A steel blades edger will provide a much straighter edge than a line trimmer will. The only problem with a multi-attachment tool is if the motor ever goes out you are now out of all those tools until you buy another motor

If the echo weedeater attachment has the head that you cut pieces of line and push them in you will hate it for edging. It will spit the line every 20 feet. It worked fine for traditional weedeatng just not edging.

I had to replace mine after 8 years to a traditional spool because it couldnt hold the 4" piece of line anymore. It would lose grip and spin out.

I have the edge attachment too.

Much cleaner look. Only use it when company is coming over. After 5+ hours mowing I usually quickly edge with the weed eater.

Ryobi interchangeable weed eater and edger. I get the straight cut of an edger with a quick change of attachments.

I have a Worx trimmer that has wheels and rotates to do edging perfectly.

I use an Echo stick edger. Works great. Nothing like a new blade cut.

I used to have both. So rarely used the dedicated edger I got rid of it. Unless you are an absolute lawn perfectionist, a good weedeater will typically get the job done just fine.

Ha, that's why I have a Stihl KM 55 with a trimmer head and a KM 56-RC with the edger head.

The edger is vastly faster than using the trimmer head and does a better job. Even when walking back to my shop and grabbing the other power unit.

I know that when I pull up to someone’s house the very first thing I judge them on is the quality of their lawn.

Get it started with an edger. Maintain with trimmer. Touch up with edger if need be.
