I've got a vine I planted 2 years ago. It's about 5' tall now. This is my first vine so I don't know too much about them. Should I be watering it, especially with the current heat? If so, how often? On a side note, this vine sure isn't growing very fast, is that normal?

Certainly can’t hurt. A general guideline for lawns, shrubs, etc. is the equivalent of 1 inch of water per week. So 1 good soaking weekly of water in the absence of rain might be advisable - particularly for a young plant. A 2 year plant is not going to have the extensive root system that a much older plant would have.

Vine growth - are you fertilizing and following these recommendations? Louisiana Home Muscadine Production LSU Ag Center

Why would you not have to water it? Serious question.

Get a 5 gal bucket. Drill small hole near bottom of bucket but on its side. Place hole facing the vine root. Fill with water 1-2 times a week. Gets 5-10 gal of slow watering each week.

Little late for that this year, but I will add one to its base when it gets a little cooler. Watered them heavily the other day. I don’t prune them annually, but I’m reading I should start. Dad planted these when I was in HS, totally shade the arbor right now.

Watch kinfolk farms on YouTube. I learned a lot from him.

Also Isons has educational videos on YouTube as well.

I inherited some. Have never watered them. I guess I figured the ones in the dry arse piney woods don't get watered outside of rain, so why should mine? My only problem has been critters.
