Mine has bit the dust. Crappy Maytag (whirpool branded I believe) and every gray wheel on the bottom tray has popped off and i've reglued several times w/ epoxy and super glue and the little hub just pop off over and over. i think i have one wheel left.
the kicker is the top tray exploded shooting ball bearings all over the floor. this damn thing is only about 5 years old.
cleans like shite so i'm not going to repair something that is already mediocre.
what do you have that works? is it still bosch or nothing? home depot has a whirlpool for $520 w/ 10,000 reviews but it looks a whoooooole lot like my current dishwasher and it gives me flashbacks.
recs?

we just replaced our 15 year old dishwasher. We got a whirlpool gold series but the truth is nothing is made like it was. The EPA has screwed things up. This thing takes 3 hours to do a load of dished on "normal" and "sani-rinse."
The dishes come out soaking wet since the new ones cant have the same heating element as the old ones. And in order to get a new one to dry, you have to add more chemicals.
Tl:Dr all the new ones suck. take your pick

Bosch. I think they have one that pops open when the cycle is complete. I love ours and if I’m home when it finishes I just pop it so the plastics aren’t soaking wet when I go to put them up. Damn thing is very quiet too.

Bosch for sure. Can't tell ours is even running if it weren't for the light it projects on the floor to remind you. Usually the quick wash 30 min wash is what we use 99% of the time and it works great.

We have a new Bosch and while it is super quiet, the dishes are always wet when done.. maddening.

i think we all do this. a stupid thing our 'new' dishwashers have taught us to do since they never truly dry anything.
they could at least have some sort of automated venting where it lets the humidity out after drying cycle is complete so we don't pour water all over ourselves putting the dishes away.

Same happened to mine - wheels, top and bottom, plus the food chopper went wackado and cut a hole in the bottom of the DW causing leakage.
Anyway I replaced it with a Kitchenaid Model KDTE204GPSO (also a whirlpool branded item) a couple years ago and I’ve been happy with it. Very quiet (no food chopper but a a good filtration system), cleans weil, has a heating element so it dries plastic items pretty good as long as you use rinse aid. I caught it on sale at Best Buy.
But I anticipate it might last 5 to 7 years the way they manufacturer “energy efficient” crap appliances now days.

Replaced our GE with a Bosch last year. It is still Bosch or nothing. We got a mid-tier model. Don't remember the exact one but it wasn't the most expensive, but sure does work well.

Had a Kitchen Aid for 4 years now.
It's very quiet and no issues.
Also, made in the USA.

Same exact experience as Craw. Very quiet, cleans well, dries well with rinse aid. No complaints.

Another vote for Bosch. Going on two years with ours and have been very happy. Don’t recall the exact model offhand, but it was an 800 series.

Top of the line LG has been great for last 4 years. Very quiet.

Agreed. I put a new Whirlpool in about 2 years ago and it sucks. We honestly rarely use it and just hand wash most of our dishes.

thanks everyone. sounds like bosch is the way to go.

Well, that sucks. I ordered a Whirlpool and it will be here Thursday. Even though we will just use it as storage because my wife is the actual dishwasher.

Even though Bosch is a German company, for the US dishwashers are made in North Carolina

Is there a consensus on the Bosch dishwashers? Looking at the 500 series (mid-range) Bosch and I have read review after review about it not drying. Replacing a 4 year old kitchen aid kdte40. Loved the kitchen aid, but sour because it crapped out after only a few years. I’m torn between a new kitchen aid and Bosch.
