Ok guys my front yard has gone from 3-4 dallias grass spots up to about 30. What the hell do I do? Nuke the yard? Is it a lost cause?

It would help to know what type of grass you have.

There was a brew of different chemicals here that I used a couple of years ago. I think Celsius and something else plus a surfactant. But I think you have to apply it in early spring I think, But don;t trust my memory, I don't. It worked fairly well. I had to dig and spot treat but I finally won.

Get ready for war.

There is nothing that will work in centipede. Sethoxydim will give partial control through repeated applications. Celsius will suppress it. If you want total control then round up and drop a square of sod.

I saw success by:

1. Establishing a pre-emergent barrier
2. Applying sethoxydim a few times
3. Going out every day and pulling seed heads out of the ground, tying them in a plastic bag, and throwing them in the garbage can. After about two weeks of doing this it went away.

When I started doing this there was about a 10 x 15 section that was solid dallisgrass. It's now solid centipede.

roundup on a glove. stuff is brutal. day after a rain go out and pull up as much as you feel like also works. i eliminated it in my backyard by pulling it up a few nights a week.

After a good rain, go out there with a weed remover tool and manually dig them up. If they are large enough, you may have to repair the area where they were dug out.

Chemical treatment is a waste of time IMO (unless it's glyphosate).

I use a large flathead screwdriver - jam it into all sides of the root ball, pick up the entire plug and throw away. Much easier to do after a rain.

As has been said best option is glyphosate (Roundup 41% concentration). Mix a 5% solution (6.5 oz with 121.5 oz water per gallon mix) and use rubber glove to rub along leaves. It is a perennial grass so best long term control achieved in fall from mid September to mid October.
