Damn bald cypress knees in the yard are getting to high. I need to get these bad boys trimmed down. I don’t want to go any higher on my lawn mower settings and they are in the way for a project in need to get done. What is recommended to use for that? Reciprocating saw?

Yep. Or if you're into hand tools, a big toothed bow saw will do the trick.

Reciprocating saw should do fine, cypress knee wood is softer than you might suspect.
My neighbor has pond with bunch cypress knees,I used my Stihl brush cutter with metal blade.Whacked them off right at the ground, was much easier than I thought it would be.

a sawzall and/or side grinder with cut off disk solves that with a quickness

I have some rigid cordless drills, prolly just go grab the cordless reciprocating saw to add to my collection. Prolly doesn’t hurt to have one of those handy.

You could sell the 2-3' tall knees to tourists. I would like to have one to put in my garden in Dallas.

I just grind them down with the mower.

I use a chainsaw and a reciprocating saw every year.

Cut with an ax after a rain, each side of knee has a root. Very easy

This man knows what's up. One chop, two chop then swing backside of axe with force and the knee pops right out! After a few you get really good at it.

I have to cut about 40 each year in the spring. They are at grass level and feel like a cobble stone road going over them. I use an ax for anything over 3" and for knees under 3" I use a Milwaukee 18v cordless drill with a 2 1/4" bit shown below. I usually drill them about 3-4" below grass level. It only takes about 10 seconds of drilling. It is very aggressive but will get used to it after a few attempts.

I may order a larger one.
